This is a lovely hotel in a great location. The rooms were spacious, clean and nicely decorated. Unfortunately, our room was next to a big vent which made noise. All together, I would definitely star here agin.

Great hotel - perfect location

Pros: Location is perfect, staff is irreproachable, rooms are clean and comfortable, WiFi really working well
Cons: It's an old building so it has the "cachet" right ? If you can only stand super modern resorts that place might not be for you, if anything
One night on a business trip, the staff was extremely flexible and kind, from now on it's my go-to for San Diego area

NO OCEAN VIEW

Cons: Be honest about your ocean view
I booked this hotel based on reviews and the Ocean View. Now I have stayed a lot of places with ocean views but this hotel falls short of that at least Room #202 did!! Ocean view means I can lay in the bed or sit in a chair and see the ocean from my window. The room layout was awful! The ocean view was behind the bed, not to mention the bed had a 4foot tall head rest!!! Was very disappointed it was almost like false advertising! Save your money and get a hotel on coastal blvd there you can really see the ocean view!!

Great boutique hotel in heart of La Jolla

Spent a night here with my wife and 2 1/2 year old daughter and had a great time. We got to the hotel early (around 12:30pm) hoping to possibly check-in early and were pleasantly surprised to have this request accommodated. We were also upgraded to a room with an ocean view and a patio which was nice. Hotel staff was incredibly accommodating and friendly and the lobby had a really nice homely feel. Location was perfect, walking distance to many restaurants and easy access to beaches around La Jolla cove.

Sometimes it is the little things that really matter. After staying at a big resort that overcharged for everything, the Grand Colonial was a pure delight. In the restaurant, the menu items were reasonably priced and the food was imaginative and delicious. The staff was gracious, knowledgeable and efficient, and the little extras like turn down service, extra water, coffee in the lobby were all appreciated.

Convenient location, historic charm

Pros: The facility is updated, but still has historic charm.
Cons: Can't think of any.
Location: Great location to enjoy the beach and shopping, dining.
It was nice that they gave valet parking free for VIP perks. Hotel staff were all helpful and courteous.

Classic hotel, totally updated, great location

Pros: Great location to ocean and right in town. Classic feel, totally updated.
Location: Within walking distance to shops and restaurants in the village. Only one block from the ocean, park and oceanfront walk.
This hotel has a classic feel, has been updated and has a wonderful variety of room configurations to choose from. The prices are in line with comparable hotels in the area, and the hotel is within walking distance of both town and ocean. The staff was professional from checkin to checkout, valet parking staff always cheerful and responsive, and in the restaurant and bar, food and service was first rate. I will stay again and also recommend the Grand Colonial to family and friends
