Good location but dreadful service

Posted Jan 27, 2015
Pros: Clean room and good beds.
Cons: Front desk manner. Continental breakfast almost a joke. Expedia should not "recommend" rooms that are not suitable. Ie one bed for two adults and one
Location: Good italian restuarants. Very busy flight path to airport.
Luckily it was just for one night and seemed expensive for what was on offer, especially when its under renovation. Good location and beds though.

YOU'RE ONLY PAYING FOR THE AREA, NOT THE HOTEL

Posted Jan 27, 2015
Pros: LOCATION
Cons: PARKING, ODOR THROUGHOUT HOTEL, ADD FRUITS TO YOUR INCLUDED BREAKFAST
Location: some small shops like 7 eleven and cafes. Clean area
The entire hotel and the room had an odor that I wasn't too fond of, but I just had to deal with it. It's a very old building built in the 1920's, so the rooms are alot smaller than most chain hotels. Luckily my boyfriend and I only stayed for one night. The small fridge was not cold. I did not use the microwave, but it was a source of time with the digital clock at night. There is no alarm or notepad provided. The free breakfast included was absolutely disappointing. They only served some cheap coffee, bread for toast and jelly and waffles/syrup. NO FRUITS! Are you kidding me? My boyfriend and I woke up super early at 7:30 because we thought they served a continental breakfast, but there was nothing we could eat! We couldn't eat waffles and bread. So we just had coffee. The parking is extremely small but we were lucky to find the last parking during our stay. This is a privately owned hotel, so don't expect too much. The bed was a spring bed and quite firm. The boyfriend did not like it at all. I was okay with it since it was only for one night. He said it was the worst bed he has ever slept on. The only reason why we stayed here was because it was near Gaslamp district and Littly Italy. It's worth it if you're only staying for a night or so for the area but there are other hotels you should consider. I paid $70 for my stay with a $25 expedia coupon. I would have been extremely unhappy if I didn't have the coupon and paid almost $100 for this stay. It's not worth $100.

Nice location. Hotel is updated and comfortable.

Posted Jan 21, 2015
Pros: Price and location.
Cons: I'd take it up one more notch. The effort is there, but just a little more and this could be a complete gem. More for breakfast, iron in room, etc.
Location: Location is the best. Right downtown.
The location is right downtown and ideal. Free parking, which is nice for a city hotel. Room was comfortable. It felt a little like lipstick on a pig as you could tell some things were old but just updated enough to feel newer. I would stay there again. Internet was good. Walking distance to The Waterfront, which was a nice place to grab some food. Close to the airport. It's really a great place for the price.

We stayed on the 4th floor due to street noise.

Posted Jan 21, 2015
Pros: Location. We were there on an off night and the room was quieter on the 4th floor.
Cons: Repair the windows and replace the drapes, add an alarm clock.
Location: Wharf and Little Italy.
Older hotel, clean. Posted pictures look more pristine than in actuality. much interior paint, however, room paint not completed and done messy. One window did not have working latches. Drapes in much need of replacement. Room had refrigerator and microwave but no alarm clock and the telephone was in a drawer. Location was good and walked to wharf and into Little Italy. Parking was limited.

Great location downtown

Posted Jan 20, 2015
Pros: The location. The queen bed was comfortable but it would have been nice to have 2 pillows each
Cons: The wi-fi reception and the parking.
Location: Little Italy is a couple of blocks away. Many good restaurants nearby
Within walking distance of many restaurants and the harbour front. Very small parking spot. We often had to park our car on the street, and when we were able to use hotel parking there was no room to turn around, so had to back out into the traffic!

Disappointing and expensive

Posted Jan 13, 2015
The building was a fun old building down by the water. It was convenient for where we needed to be. Those are the positives. The room had a strange, unpleasant odor. The pillow or pillow case smelled a bit off, too. Most things in the room were extremely dated and in disrepair (the laminate pulled off of the table, paint chipping on the bathroom cabinet, stain on the carpet, bathtub had a bit of a sinking feeling to it). The breakfast downstairs was minimal. I'm just disappointed at the price I paid ($87/per night) for such a less than appealing place.

Fantastic for the price!

Posted Jan 8, 2015
Pros: Close to the airport, walked to the nearest bus stop and brought me right to it.
Cons: Unsure
Location: Unsure, stayed online the night but didn't seem too far from down town.
I arrived in San Diego with no room booked, went right online and booked the cheapest thing I could find closest to the airport (Had a layover), For the price I expected a dump (especially coming from the east coast) but I didn't care, needed a place to sleep. Wow was I wrong, the room may not have be huge but it was clean and very nice. Bed was comfortable and bathroom fantastic it. I absolutely recommend this hotel not only for a layover but I would book it even just staying in San Diego.
