Third floor is the party floor...Posted Feb 24, 2014
We upgraded for a corner room on the third floor, only to realize that it was probably the party floor. We stayed for two nights and were awaken by really loud guests a few times every night. It was most unpleasant. Overall the staff was nice, the room comfortable, but beware of the ad pictures. The bath did not have jets. The pool area is barren an uninviting. The hotel bar really average. It is definitely not a place to get pampered. It is catered mainly to business travelers. If you are looking for a romantic getaway, this is not the place for you.

Comfortable stay in the the Deluxe King.Posted Feb 21, 2014
Pros: Beds. pillows, Ambiance of the surrounding city.
Cons: Drains or something because when the water gets out of the shower the floor is a pool. Although there were enough towels to dry it
Location: A few streets down from PetCo Park, Across the street from the railway and Convention Center. Spike Africa's - Dinner The Mission - Breakfast GradeA
I would definitely say it was a nice stay overall. It was a really comfortable room, I enjoyed the king size bed with more than enough space for my guest and myself. The restroom was an average size, comfortable toilet, large counter next to sink, bathtub was average and clean. Great water pressure (surprisingly). I was confused as to the lack of toilet paper when I arrived, but after I had left and came back to the hotel I asked someone at the front desk. They were quick to have it put in my room before I had gone up the elevator. Although the Do Not Disturb sign was there... we weren't in the room so that's fair. The small balcony view was a great window for that nice breeze of San Diego airflow. The television was better than average and had many channels to choose from. Internet was a surcharge but I was lucky enough to use my Hotspot via my iPhone. Valet parking is pricey, but I would suggest not having a car in the Gaslamp District anyway unless you enjoy looking for parking for an hour. But the valet are friendly and will have your car in no-time. Sadly I wasn't able to tip the first valet to greet us (only had my card on me), I didnt catch his name but I had told him that I was coming back in an hour for the car, so he left it out in the front for us. So at least the parking expense was not that bad of an experience. Rooms are decent sized, enough lighting considering the amount of lamps in the room.

Valentine's and 21st Birthday celebrationPosted Feb 18, 2014
Pros: The sheets smelt clean.
Cons: De-mold the tubs
Location: Downtown SD, tons of things to do nearby.
We had a great time...staff was very friendly, the hotel was clean and smoke free, there was however, a dead smasked spider on the wall, that could have been cleaned up.

DisapointedPosted Feb 17, 2014
Pros: The close location to a lot of good to excellent restaurants for great dinner and breakfast and none of this has to do with the hotel itself.
Cons: Customer service and honor reservations. Rooms in the Terrace section are really noisy
Location: already mentioned above
Reserved and paid for a Deluxe King room and at arrival I was told no King rooms were available and that I had been "upgraded" to a two double bed room in the Terrace (building adjacent to main building) . When my wife and I entered the room had a bad feeling about finding ear plugs by the side of our bed which was later confirmed as the noise of people and cars was unbearable. This experience ruined our long waited 30 year anniversary.

Fantastic ExperiencePosted Feb 17, 2014
Pros: We loved the location, staff, and overall comfort.
Location: We felt the location is ideal. We went to Happy Hour at Flemings and just a short walk to great hot spots.
We had a fabulous stay. The staff is so attentive and polite. Our room was very nice and clean. We can't wait to come back again. This will be our go to hotel at Gaslamp. Don't miss the breakfast buffet, delicious and very nice selection.

Love This Hotel, Great Staff, Close To EverythingPosted Feb 17, 2014
Pros: Walking distance to the bay, running path, great restaurants, helpful staff.
Cons: Address the wear and tear that is starting to happen in common areas.
Location: Fabulous location with more restaurants than you can enjoy. Try Cafe Seville for tapas and sangria, as well as good music.
We love this hotel! Super helpful and friendly staff, well appointed rooms, and close to the Amtrack, airport, bus lines, bay, walking paths, park, and all the great restaurants downtown and in the Gaslamp District. We have never been disappointed here. There was a slight room snafu caused by booking online, but it was immediately fixed and we were moved to an adjacent room at Hilton Lofts on 5th Avenue, which is owned by this property and is part of the hotel. Loved the modern, funky decor! The Hilton Gaslamp is a low rise hotel, so one feels so much more at home than a bigger, busy property. My one comment is that there appears to be some normal wear and tear that is being deferred such as scuffs on walls in the hallway, and doors, etc. I would recommend keeping this place top notch and addressing these maintenance issues so they do not become more costly. Hope to be back very, very soon.

Perfect spot for fifth street funPosted Feb 12, 2014
Without paying a dime on taxis, my husband and I were able to walk to low key touristy things along the water and lounge it up at the bars. It was the best of both worlds.

Party HotelPosted Feb 10, 2014
Pros: The only thing that I liked about the hotel was that it was walking distance to the trolley
Cons: Walls need to be installated
Location: Very close to the trolley. Nice restaurants very close by.
My family stayed here for one night and I would not stay again. 1. Room walls are super thin. 2. All the clubers came back to the hotel around 1am and 2am and was not very quiet. 3. Front desk told me to just call down stairs and they would could make the sofa bed. So I called and the lady came and just handed me all the sheets and I had to do it my self. 4. On-line advertises that they have a heated pool and spa jacuzzi. The pool was not very heated. And they have no jacuzzi. 5. Parking is $40.00 over charged. Not very family friendly hotel.
