Oops

Posted Apr 14, 2014
Oops meant to book hilton resort and spa right on the beach. Instead booked this broke down under construction place in the middle of the worst traffic in the world. Staff was super friendly. Even the cleaning crew went out of way to say hi. But that didn't make up for on going renovations, poor location, and sad excuse for a pool. Not to mention the exercise room was outside because of the renovations on the inside. Please , please. Book the Hilton on the beach.

Hotel is undergoing EXTENSIVE construction

Posted Apr 8, 2014
The Hilton San Diego Mission Valley is undergoing extensive construction right now. The front of the hotel and lobby are completely closed and are currently a construction site. As a result my taxi driver had absolutely no idea where to drop me off. After being dropped off in the middle of the parking lot and wandering around the building I figured out how to enter the building and was led to the "front desk" in one of the ballrooms. I managed to check in easily enough, though the loud construction noises were annoying. A little while later I decided that I wanted to use the fitness center. The fitness center, which is normally on the second floor, was also closed. So I was led to a hastily set up "fitness area" by the pool. This fitness area consisted of 2 treadmills (both out of order), 2 elliptical machines and 3 stationary bikes (the third of which is right next to a plastic tarp that the wind blows into the machine and thus smacks any rider). Midway through my workout I heard a series of smoke alarms go off and then an announcement to ignore the alarms. The construction crews set them off by accident. The following morning I was woken up around 9:00am by more construction noises. Travelers considering this hotel should be warned that it is under extensive construction. Rooms should be heavily discounted due to the loud noises coming from the construction. Do not think the noises only affect people with rooms on the lower floors; I was on the 7th floor.

Good freeway access near shopping center

Posted Apr 5, 2014
Pros: The location suited our purposes.
Cons: At the time the hotel was undergoing renovations, and those did not disrupt very much. It would be nice if they expanded the fitness center.
This was a good place for a business traveler, or someone needing to get around the city. Definitely not the romantic hideaway or a place to lounge or soak up amenities. (Though, despite being so near the freeway, it was surprisingly quiet.)

Needs Improvement

Posted Mar 24, 2014
Pros: Nothing really.
Cons: Older facility, needs remodeling. Bar closed at 11 pm on a weekend.
Location: Gas Lamp District nearby but taxi needed to get there.
Originally gave us a handicapped equipped room which all items are at a lowered height. They relocated us next to the gym. Woke up at 730 am due to noise of weights dropping and people's voices. Horrible.

Great location, BUT...

Posted Mar 18, 2014
My friends and I stayed here for the weekend. I booked this hotel because of the location, however when we arrived I noticed that there are MANY hotels nearby that are not as expensive as the Hilton. If I would have known this, I wouldn't have stayed at the Hilton. You're charged a parking fee of 18 dollars a day, I thought that was a bit too expensive. The hotel just didn't wow me, yes the room was very clean and comfortable, but there was nothing special about it. If you're looking to stay here I would recommend to do your research first. You will be able to find plenty of hotels that are nearby for a cheaper price.

Good hotel for great price

Posted Mar 9, 2014
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was really clean and comfortavle, perfect temperature too. The bathroom was clean, though the toilet paper was placed in an awkward spot for you to reach. One thing was the parking. Being new to the hotel scene, they didnt tell me how valet and self parking worked. Overall, it was a very good experience .

Extra Fees....

Posted Mar 3, 2014
Nice area, older hotel, some furnishings showing wear and tear. Hesitant about "blind booking" but took a chance. Nothing said about extra fees like parking or Wi - Fi in the room. Guess I remember the 'olden days' of things being included in the room fees. The online deal not being such a great deal after all.
