Overall...average

Posted Mar 26, 2015
The hotel itself is alright. The photos online show quite nicely but in person, it is much more dated. It's also completely removed from so much of what Mission Bay has to offer. You feel quite isolated from anything but the hotel. Our check-in was great- nice staff. Though it does have extremely high parking fees, despite being away from any areas that might make parking a challenge. Our room was not very clean. There was a used tissue tucked at the side of one bed, the room had an "old smell and was quite dark. Bathroom was also not very clean. The pool area was great but the poolside server was pretty awful. She had to come back twice to ask what we had ordered and even still managed to get one drink completely wrong and forget a child's lemonade. Dinner at the restaurant was wonderful, though a little high priced. Overall, I'd say it's a far cry from truly being a 4-star hotel. It's a solid 3, but that's as far as I'd go.

Nice hotel close to attractions

Posted Mar 18, 2015
Spent three nights at the resort. Hotel rooms feel a bit tired. Restaurant was the best asset. Excellent service and food choices. Menu was top notch with excellent views of the bay. Loved the fire pits. Would highly recommend when visiting the SD area. Think the $35 charge for car parking is excessive and should be included in rate.

Bad choice!

Posted Mar 16, 2015
Pros: Not much
Cons: Please, see above Need renovation and better cleaning
The rooms are not very clean The resort fee is hidden and not acceptable 35 dollars a day! Not sure for what? The parking is very expensive 35 dollars outside! Need to have a car otherwise you spend too much money on transportation

Okay but Expensive

Posted Mar 9, 2015
The resort was okay but expensive for what you get. Parking at $35 a day extra plus a resort fee and city taxes. We had breakfast in our room for three and the bill was $100 and we didn't order anything special. Checked out and had an additional $172 after our 2 day stay!

While it was our pleasure to have welcomed you to our resort, we are disappointed our pricing structure had an impact on your overall experience with us. We do hope you had the opportunity to enjoy our many resort amenities and our great central location on Mission Bay with peaceful walking trails along the water that lends itself to that relaxing resort experience. We hope for the opportunity to welcome you back in the future and allow us to offer you options that may be more in line with an experience that is tailored just for you! All the best, DON DENNIS Managing Director

Great location for sightseeing in San Diego.

Posted Feb 24, 2015
Pros: location, tennis court (no extra charge for use of this), pool and hot tub, fitness center was also included but we used the boardwalk for exercise.
Cons: minimize or eliminate the extra charges and fees. they are unnecessary and make people feel tricked when you tell them about the fees when they arrive
Location: San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld (you can see it from the hotel), Coronado Island, Petco Park, nice beaches (the beach on the bay at the hotel is not the best)
this hotel is in a great location for seeing the sights of San Diego. It's minutes from Sea World and close to downtown, the zoo and Coronado Island. The hotel is located on the boardwalk which is great for running, walking and biking. there are bike and water sport rental places right there and the prices are reasonable for rentals and the bike path is clearly marked. the pool and hot tub are great. the disappointment is the nickel and dime-ing that happens when you get there. In addition to the nightly rate, they charge a resort fee of $25 per night, a $35 daily parking fee and wanted $75 per night for a cot... a cot!!... what about a cot makes it worth $75?? it's not like we get another room along with it!... i think these charges are ridiculously expensive and unnecessary. We found a Target nearby and bought a twin sized air mattress for $50 and used it instead of the overpriced cot. in addition, the breakfast buffet is a steep $25 per person, so $100 for a family of 4!! Again, ridiculously expensive. overall our stay here was satisfactory. the room was fine, nice to have a mini fridge to keep our water cold and the walk out patio was nice, although 3 of the 5 days we were there they had corporate events on the lawn... tents one day, water sports inflatables another and a luncheon on the third day. we never knew what we would open the curtains to. But, it was not disruptive to our enjoyment. the pool and hot tubs were nice (even though one was out of order the last day)

Many thanks for the visit and feedback. We're thrilled that you enjoyed the HILTON SAN DIEGO RESORT AND SPA and our offerings. We look forward to hosting you again soon and while we are continually making improvements throughout the resort, your comments will be taken into consideration. We do apologies for any miscommunication regarding the roll away bed fee, as I am guessing without knowing the details of your particular stay, that you must have been quoted one price for your entire stay not a nightly fee! Be sure to check out options that are all inclusive of fees on our site. We encourage you to allow us to assist with anything that might make that return even more enjoyable; we love to go the extra mile and hope to build a return experience to rival this first! Nice quiet resort close to the beach.

Posted Feb 10, 2015
Pros: Clean rooms, friendly staff.
Cons: Water pressure in the shower.
My Wife and I stayed here for her birthday. The staff was extremely friendly and even provided a complimentary room upgrade because of the special occasion. The suite itself was very comfortable and clean. I wish we could have taken full advantage of the many ammenities offered but we already had other plans. The only thing that seemed a little ridiculous was the $35 overnight parking fee and the $25 ammenities fee (seeing as we were unable to use any of the ammenities) Overall a great hotel and we would definitely stay there again.

Upscale Resort Close to Sea World

Posted Feb 2, 2015
Pros: Isolated resort property backs up to the waterfront featuring paved jogging trails along the bay. Suites with patio fire pits available.
Cons: The furnishings in the rooms are dated (feels like the 1960s). The carpeted rooms have a musty odor.
Location: Easy freeway access and close to the airport, beaches, Sea World and all the tourist attractions in Balboa Park (Zoo) and Mission Beach.
We have stayed several times at the resort. We enjoy the property and the bay side sunset dining experience at Acqua [sic].
