One of my best hotel experiences

Posted Sep 3, 2014
It is a very different experience, with each room customized (according to their website). Through Expedia, I had booked the Imperiale Suite but forgot about it on the way to the hotel. We walk in and check out every aspect of the room because it was such a cool and different room. We noticed an open door on the other side of the room and see we have our own jacuzzi outside! I check the website and see we were put in the Fresca Spa Suite. It's private and the small outdoor patio is all to yourself. We took advantage of some of the amenities because of the deal we got from booking through Expedia (popped a bottle of champagne that was in their mini fridge; used the espresso machine the next morning before checking-out). Make sure to check out the printouts on the desk FRONT AND BACK. We were only there for one night and the morning we were checking out, I JUST saw all the amenities they offer on the back of one of the printouts (you can rent a Ferrari for the day!!!) I feel the Keating caters more to couples, but it looks like a fun place to celebrate and stay with a bachelorette party The next time I'm in San Diego,I will definitely come back and try out a different room and experience it for the first time all over again.

Right in the middle of the Fun!

Posted Jun 26, 2014
Pros: Great location, amazing staff, incredible design. The rooms are gorgeous as are the staff ;)
Cons: Unfortunately there was a bit of road construction happening right outside the hotel. This was much more noisy and disruptive than anything else.
Location: Lots of great places to eat, get drinks and shop. Horton Plaza is a two minute walk away. Also within walking distance to Petco Park!
We loved staying at The Keating. However, this is not the hotel for you if you are a light sleeper. It is situated right in the midst of Gaslamp Quarter with tons of pubs, patios and live music all steps away. It is a heritage building so the windows are not double-paned. This is also what we loved about the location! It is close to practically everything - no car needed to go to Petco Park, Seaport Village or to the ferry for Coronado Island. Very walkable! Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful with suggestions.

No lock on the door leading to the hot-tub, could seriously use some paint, could not sleep between the hours of 2100 and 0200 too noisy, never again was not worth what you charged me!

First Visit To Gas Lamp District

Posted Jun 2, 2014
Pros: Everything
Cons: Ice machines would be handy.
Location: Restaurants, live music, shopping, MLB, Midway museum, San Diego Zoo
My wife and I were there for our 30th Anniversary in May 2014. The Keating Hotel is a unique experience, unlike any other hotel I have stayed in. We loved it. That being said it is not your typical hotel. I would say it is not for kids. We are young at heart and understand that the hotel is in the main entertainment area of downtown. The staff treated us like royalty, the bed and shower was wonderful as was the "race car" ambience. Only downfall in my mind was no ice machines. The location is fabulous if you are interested in enjoying the Gas Lamp district restaurants, entertainment or even baseball at Petco. The noise levels are to be expected given the location of the hotel, so if you are here for a restful sleep, you may have made a mistake, but if you are here to enjoy the San Diego Gaslamp district, you will love it.

Great hotel, but be prepared for noise!

Posted May 29, 2014
The hotel is in the middle of everything you could need, but the downside was the noise until 3or 4am! There were also a lot of drunk people outside on the walk back to the hotel. Be prepared to share the outside space with partiers! But the hotel couldn't have been nicer.

Very chic and comfortable hotel.

We loved the look and design of the hotel... very italian. (It is designed by the famous Italian design firm PININFARINA, a company that designs Ferrari's and Maserati's). It had a modern chic European feel to it. Fabulous high end bed, with Frette linens. Ultra high-tech B&O entertainment system. The room was huge, w/high ceilings. A real treat. But you will need the earplugs they provide at turndown, as it's in the Gaslight Quarter, with 3-4 bars in every block. Even on a Wednesday it was loud. And parking is expensive. But the hotel is gorgeous.

Great spot in Gas Lamp

Room was very comfortable and clean. Bed was incredibly comfy. Hotel staff seemed inconvenienced at times to help, but the personalized check-in was very cool. Overall it was a fantastic experience, and I would stay here again.
