Great location close to Del Mar Racetrack

Posted Jul 27, 2014
Pros: Easy access to the ocean and Del Mar Race Track. The bell staff were very friendly and accommodating. Best part of our stay was the bell staff.
Cons: My wife was hung up on calling for a shuttle on 07/25/14 in the evening and was treated rudely. On location dining. No microwave or refrigerator.
Location: Lots of good dining close by and shopping. The ocean and racetrack have simple access.
Great location with the ocean, Del Mar Racetrack, shopping and dining options close at hand. The room was simple but comfortable. The concierge was very helpful and the business center was useful.

Very Fancy

Posted Jun 28, 2014
Pros: Most of the staff were extremely helpful and very polite.
Cons: The bar service was very slow. It seemed they only had one bartender that served all of the restaurants within the hotel.
Location: Very close to the beach, many shops and restaurants within walking distance.
This hotel is extremely nice and the location is awesome.

Good

Good stay overall. Negatives are that shower changes temperatures from hot to cold every 1 minute. Also, ordered a cheese platter to go for $25 and it came all jumbled in a paper box, rather than being arranged on a nice platter while we watched the sunset from the rocking chairs. Otherwise a pretty nice hotel.

Beautiful Hotel & Great Room. Great Spring Trip!

Posted Apr 4, 2014
We all enjoyed our stay at L'Auberge in Del Mar. There is nothing to not love about this wonderful hotel and location. The beach is well groomed and the staff is pleasant and always comfortable with any request you might have. Thank you for a terrific memory. Albion

Come for a drink. Stay somewhere else.

Pros: Great location. Staff was friendly. Interior and outside bar/fire pits are great.
Cons: Change their literature to reflect the actual hours room service is available. More impressive rooms. Don't charge for upgrades that aren't upgrades.
Location: Eat at Board & Brew or Bully. Go to the beach!
I found out about this hotel when I met my friend for a drink there a while ago. I was floored by how incredible the place looked, it's quite amazing how good the inside looks, especially the outside bar and fire pit area. I was so excited to finally stay here, but was ultimately disappointed for a few reasons. The room service menu says "all night" and the key card envelope they gave me when I checked in listed room service as being available 24 hours. I called at 1130pm, only for someone to tell me the kitchen was closed. I get that it's crazy and uneconomical to keep a kitchen open and staffed all night, but when I pay the kind of money that it costs to stay at 4 star place like this one, I expect those amenities, especially when they list those hours on their own literature. The inside of the room was underwhelming compared to how great the interior of the hotel looks. Maybe this was just personal taste, but both me and my girlfriend have stayed in nicer rooms for much less money. At check in I was offered to upgrade my room for an extra $$ to get an ocean view. The only way to actually view the ocean from my room was to go out on the balcony, stick my head out over it and look left. If this was the upgrade, I can't imagine what view the other room had...... Family friendly. Little kids everywhere. Not great for a romantic getaway. Overall, it just wasn't worth the money to stay. Amazing place for drinks and watching the sunset, just not a great hotel.

Nice hotel, terrible room

Posted Mar 31, 2014
We were given room 206. The price was a standard price for a two bed room. When we opened the balcony door a wall was there. About 4-5 feet and then WALL. That was our view! I asked to be changed and they could only do it the next day and charged us a 50 dollar upgrade. I didn't even know they could sell rooms like that. Like a box...

Excellent couples getaway

Posted Mar 30, 2014
Pros: Perfect location, excellent service and beautiful aesthetics.
Cons: The parking should be included.
Location: Jake's is an excellent restaurant on the water, Rusty's Surf Shop is great for surfboard rentals, the Liquor Store across the street has a GREAT deli!
L'Auberge was the perfect getaway for my boyfriend and I. The staff were friendly and very accommodating; the rooms were extremely clean and comfortable. The outdoor bar area was great for having a cocktail and enjoying the weather. Upstairs there is a balcony that is perfect for watching the beautiful sunset over the ocean below. There was plenty of activity at the bar and patio area in the evening if we wanted to have a drink and be social, yet the room was always very quiet when we needed some privacy and peacefulness. It is a quick walk to the beach and there are excellent restaurants and bars within walking distance--we only used our rental car to take day trips into San Diego and up the coast (you could really do without a car if you plan on staying near the hotel--there is plenty to do within walking distance!).

Great Hotel

Posted Mar 24, 2014
Pros: Great Service, rooms impecable, fitness room, close to beaches and Torrey Pines preserve.
Location: Torrey Pines reservation, Del Mar Beaches, wonderful restaurants nearby, Solana Beach, terrific food at the Hotel.
We had a great time here at this intimate and well run hotel. 2 blocks from the beach and good restaurants within walking distance. We usually stay at Torrey Pines, however we enjoyed this stay so much we will stay here going forward. We have been to the San Diego area over 25 times and this is the best Hotel experience we have had.
