Close to beach

Posted Apr 15, 2014
We had a nice view from our room but what came with that was noise from the street below. On our weekend, there was a special event going on across the street and there were people there before 5:00 AM to start setting up. That's not the hotel's fault, just saying those kinds of things happen on a busy street. The hotel is pretty old without many upgrades but the room was clean.

Nice hotel on cove.

Pros: Very convenient location, clean, courteous staff.
Location: Can walk to restaurants but many good ones are also within a short drive. Convenient to UC San Diego.
Enjoyed a suite with a view of the LaJolla cove. Could hear the sea lions at night.

Hotel staff was great. Room a little old looking. Sofa bed was horrible. Main bed good. Great view.

Stay for the location not the facilities

Posted Apr 11, 2014
Pros: View, location
Cons: Walls are paper thin, if you are a light sleeper you will have trouble
Location: everything is nearby, beach, food, shopping. Five star location, 2 star hotel
This hotel is all about location. It doesn't get much better. But the rooms to leave something to be desired. If a high quality room is what you are looking for you will be disappointed. We very much enjoyed our time here because of the location. Walk to everything, right on the ocean and the view from the roof during breakfast was great.

Pros: The beautiful view of the ocean.
Very good staff service. Great complimentary breakfast on rooftop. Hotel is so convenient to main street of La Jolla, you can park your car at hotel parking and just walk .

Needs work but great location

Posted Apr 9, 2014
Pros: The location.
Cons: Needs updating.
Location: Great location.
The rooms were basic. I couldn't read in bed because there was not enough light, I couldn't watch TV in bed because there was no TV in the room. The hide-a-bed in the living room had a mattress with springs showing. The location was wonderful and the space was nice, it was a nice size suite. The pool was a pool with cement around it and plastic chaises.

awesome location, excellent value for the price

Pros: We really liked the location. The Continental Breakfast was really nice, with plenty of choices. We really appreciated having eggs available.
Cons: Our bathroom was challenging---it was so small.
Location: We walked along the shore in both directions, drinking in all the beauty. There are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby if that's what you like.
we had a very simple, older room on the 4th floor overlooking the parking area. But this hotel is across the street from a very nice Ocean Front Park!!! The weather was perfect during our stay. We saw schools of dolphins swim by as we breakfasted. We enjoyed the jacuzzi and swimming pool. We'll be back.

Great Location & Good Value

Being right beside the beach this hotel's location was its strongest point. Our balcony overlooking La Jolla Cove with its sea lions, waves, birds, and happy tourists was a wonderful place to watch the morning unfold. The facility itself is on the older side, and shows a bit of wear, but rooms are generally clean, and include a generous amount of space. The kitchenette was adequate, but the lack of a microwave made cooking a wee bit awkward. There was plenty of space of food storage (fridge, cupboards, etc ...). The main bed was comfortable, but the hida-bed was awful ... much better to go with two beds if you need them. The continental breakfasts were nice, but one gets very tired of waffles with whipped cream and strawberries by day 5. The rooftop patio and the pool facilities were both terrific, and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. All in all this hotel makes a great base for explorations centered around La Jolla.

Location was perfect and so kid-friendly!

Cons: I like my morning coffee and while there was coffee in the room and the free breakfast, it wasn't the greatest. I really can't think of anything else.
It was the perfect layout for my three kids and myself for a Spring Break getaway. Walking distance to everything! The park across the street was great to work off some energy. Breakfast was very nice and just enough to start the day. I searched for a place that had a pool so we could have the swimming available in case the weather was cloudy or cool, and it's a good thing we found La Jolla Cove Suites. I even saved money on a couple of meals because we cooked on the grills provided at the pool area.

More cons than pros.

Posted Mar 26, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Add microwave, fridge, knock out wall and get rid of closet for more space, modernize suites, do not charge extra for parking, meat at breakfast.
Location: Spitting distance to ocean, lots of shops and restaurants, seal-watching.
Unless you pay up and get a suite with an ocean view, the only redeeming quality is the location, which is fabulous. Our room was small, outdated, no microwave or fridge, tiny bathroom, and parking is an extra $20 per night. Staff were average, renting out of the rooftop patio for a wedding party meant we could not use it, and continental breakfast was slightly below average. Would I stay again? Probably not.
