Amazing location, great valuePosted Dec 10, 2014
I stayed here 3 nights and enjoyed every moment. I didn't eat the breakfast, so am unable to comment on that but my room was huge, with decent facilities in the kitchen (although the room could sleep up to 6 people, and was HUGE, the cutlery etc would not accommodate more than 2 people). The room was bigger than my own apartment, and I was really impressed with the value. The balcony was lovely and I enjoyed sitting out there watching the sea lions and seals, and watching the sunset. The pool area, and roof terrace are also very well kept and La Jolla Cove directly across is beautiful, as is the whole sea walk along the cliffs. Easy access up to the main town area (up beside the pool with your key card) and good restaurants. All staff were very helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend, and will definitely stay here again!

Perfect location in La Jolla CovePosted Dec 8, 2014
Pros: We loved the location and the view. Comp breakfast on the deck was a great addition. Friendly staff.
Cons: Our first room was too small to hold a crib, so we upgraded to a 1br suite w/ ocean view. The room was like a small efficiency and was a little noisy
Location: Below Prospect street and right in front of La Jolla Cove. Snorkel or scuba across the street. Tons of restaurants and shops close by. Great location
The La Jolla Cove suites is analogous to your friends beach house. It is somewhat small small and a little out-dated, but it is in the perfect location. If location and view is what you are after - this is the place. If you prefer 5-star hotel amenities, then you may want to search elsewhere.

Oceanfront?Posted Dec 1, 2014
They should not say the first floor's room is "Oceanfront". It is "Street-front". And our room's shower was broken, so we could not take a shower at night. It was miserable...

Location is What Your Paying ForPosted Dec 1, 2014
Pros: The view and location are perfect
Cons: That hotel needs to be taken down and a new one built - it's time!
Location: Restaurants and the beach
We just stayed one night and we knew ahead of time this wasn't going to be a great place to stay but we wanted a location close to restaurants so it worked. However, it was bit worse than expectations; old, loud, and just not really above a 2 star hotel. Location is what your paying for and that's it.

Unparalleled Access to the Beach... but...Posted Nov 28, 2014
Great location, great room size. The hotel is in need of a remodel / update... no heat or ac in the room... no water pressure... no renting the kids a movie after a long day. Comically enough there were 2 thermostats, but no vents anywhere and no actual unit to control. In the end it was so close to the ocean and the king suite was large (with a full kitchen) that we had a great time. Just don't expect a modernized or fancy hotel.

Nice place with a great views!Posted Nov 24, 2014
We only stayed at La Jolla Suites for one night in the one bedroom ocean front deluxe unit. It is very big, huge balcony overlooking the entire cove. This particular unit was on the very top of the hill and you see several buildings in front of you down below. Privacy is non existent on the balcony, as neighbors are all around you. Still, it is super affordable, clean, has a full kitchen and does the job. Location is central to all restaurants, night life, galleries, etc.

Great Beach Location Close to CityPosted Nov 24, 2014
Pros: The suite we stayed in was huge and very comfortable. Enjoyed the balcony. Very comfortable bed. Quiet. Very friendly and helpful front desk staff.
Cons: TV reception was a little off.
Booked this last minute for our last night in the San Diego area. Were so pleased when we arrived to find the hotel right across from the park and ocean. We could hear the sea lions barking from our balcony as well as the waves crashing. We could also cut through the hotel area working our way up the hill and come out on Prospect Street for shopping and dinner. Breakfast on the roof was a great way to begin our last morning, followed by a stroll along the walkway above the water.

On beach, old hotel, stayed there 18 years ago, nice breakfast, nice staff, nice location. Nothing fancy, but sufficient.
