Watch out for meal charges!

Posted Oct 22, 2014
The hotel has a great location just steps from the beach. Our room was not available when we checked in at 2:30 PM. Two meals were charged to our room that did not belong to us. The meal charges were reversed, but the fact that it happened twice by the same person who appeared to try to duplicate my signature raises cause for concern.

Pros: We came here to attend the challenged athletes foundation triathlon. We've attended for the last seven years. We've always enjoyed our stays.
This was our Seventh time attending the challenged athletes foundations San Diego triathlon challenge. We've stayed at la jolla shores hotel each year and enjoyed our stays. The staff are great, the location is beautiful and the rooms are very comfortable.

Great time at the beach!

Posted Oct 21, 2014
Pros: Access to beach, sports activities including Kayaking, surfing and golf. Very close to airport and Downtown San Diego including the zoo and the marina
Cons: We really enjoyed out time here. The hotel is a little old but very clean and comfortable.
Location: I think I've already covered this in the above details.
We were visiting San Diego area for the first time after 5 days in L.A. After discovering the La Jolla Shores - we wouldn't stay anywhere else in the San Diego area. Close to the highway - you have access to Downtown La Jolla, San Diego, Zoo, Marina and Ariport all within 20 minutes max. The La Jolla Shores area has a great beach vibe, filled with outdoor activities, great beach and at least 7 restaurants all within walking distance if you don't want to eat at the Hotel. So if you don't like the beach, relaxing pool and hot tub or a unique independant hotel in the middle of paradise - don't stay here.. The hotel is older with some modern upates and has mexican arches/courtyard fountains and feel that is different from the chain hotels. I would definately stay here again.

Older but clean hotel on the beach

This hotel is in a great location if you want to be close to downtown La Jolla but not in downtown La Jolla. Access to a fine beach and quaint little La Jolla Shores Village was perfect.

La Jolla Shores is a great hotel on the beach.

Pros: Quiet nest, free shuttle service, friendly and knowledgeable staff and good food (albeit a tad expensive) I loved the table lamps, great for reading.
Cons: The size of the beach chairs. The red ones were more difficult to get into and out of . The knobs fell off on the beach showers.
Location: Lovely little beach village with yummy restaurants, interesting beach shops, This was our first time there in beach weather, so have lots to discover.
We went to relax not to tour, shop or frequent noisy places, so back and forth between the beach (chairs, towels and umbrella brought to us) and the pool (food, drinks brought to us) more than filled our needs. Ho hum! Only thing left was dinner on the patio watching the sunset and, if lucky, the dolphins. Would we go back? You Betcha!

Right on the beach

Posted Oct 5, 2014
If you want a hotel from which you can walk straight onto La Jolla beach then this hotel does the trick. Room was spacious with nice balcony, restaurant was fine. The beach in front of the hotel seemed quieter than further up the coast and umbrellas, seats, towels made it very easy.

The cleanliness of the hotel was poor. Wooden ceilings were full of thick dust. Beds nice and clean but under bed thick dust, The whole hotel is looking tired needs updating. Staff were excellent but need to do something about their cleaners.

Pros: Location-fabulous beach view
Location: San Diego, winery tours, Torrey Pines, fabulous beaches, great road excursions
Older hotel but location is a plus. Hotel Parking is a must if you rent a car.
