“Would not stay again”

We booked at this hotel because of its proximity to the Safari Park and zoo. The price was reasonable but I was very disappointed when we got to our room. First thing was we had a room on the freeway side which was super noisy but thought it would be fine since it was not too bad once inside the room. But once we entered the room we discovered ants everywhere! Also the overall condition of the room was not very good. The floor of the tub was filthy and the room smelled musty. We went to the front desk and was told there were no more rooms available except for a smoking room. I have asthma and kids so this was out of the question. Unfortunately even after telling the woman at the front desk this she went on to explain to me how to spray some spray they use on the drapes and bedding which would help cover up the smell. After telling her no again she was able to locate another non-smoking room but asked my husband if he would mind checking it first to see if it was clean and available?? I told her we did not feel comfortable doing that especially if there was a possibility someone was already in there. She couldn't leave to check it because she was by herself. It was almost 11:00pm by this time so i offered to check the room myself. Luckily no one was in the room and it was clean so we finally got into a room. The "new" room also smelled musty but at least there were no ants. I was glad it was only one night!

“Unsatisfied non smoker”

I wasn't completely satisfied because we did not get a room that we requested. It shouldn't matter that because we booked online that our request for non-smoking wasn't granted. I have asthma and rely on hotel to meet the needs of me, the customer. Not only that but the room truely smelled like an ashtray, they could have aired it out. I'm also really upset that the staff just kind of blew me up and had attitude when I asked her why. We travel alot to the San Diego neighborhood and will not be stopping at this hotel again nor recommending it to friends.

Area recommendations

We like to stay in Oceanside, its family friendly with lots of nice hotels close to the beach.

“Good value, noisy on the freeway side”

This recently renovated hotel is deserving of another "star"! Our room was clean and nicely appointed, the hotel staff was friendly and helpful. It's conveniently located with a Starbuck"s in the same block. Next time we'd request a room away from the freeway. We could hear traffic all night long.
