I love this place! Wish I could afford to stay every time I visit my daughter at Sdsu. Will defiantly stay for all special occasions! Restaurants and shops out front and ocean in back! Perfect !

Beautiful hotel, great location - nice for couples

Posted Jul 22, 2014
Pros: -Beautiful hotel grounds -Great staff -Great location next to lots of shops and restaurants
Cons: -Parking could be improved by including daily valet in the cost
Location: -Shops and restaurants -Oceanside parks -Tours (kayaks, caves)
La Valencia Hotel is a beautiful hotel in a good location. The grounds of the hotel are covered in flowers so it always looks nice and the hotel room had a nice decor. I was able to see the ocean from the hotel room, there was a great park right next to it, and it was surrounded by a lot of shops and restaurants. The hotel restaurant was good and usually had live music. Nice pool area that includes a bar. The staff was nice and always helpful. There were only two real down-sides. There isn't a great sand-beach within walking distance, it's really rocky near the ocean here (but there are kayak tours and sea lions all over the place). And the biggest down-side would be the parking. Just like most places in Southern California, parking is either expensive, inconvenient, or both. The hotel itself does not have a parking lot, so you can either park on the street, which is rarely free, or you will have to use their daily valet service, which costs extra... but I can't complain about the valets as they were great people. Overall, a great, romantic place in a good location. Just be prepared to spend lots of money.

Beautiful hotel but don't you dar check in early!

Posted Jul 20, 2014
Very lovely! But after a long drive and with two dogs in l asked about an early check in. No way! They directed us to their "dog friendly" terrace which was not, in fact, dog friendly. We wandered around town for 4 hours and then attempted to check in 10 minutes early...nope! The room was not ready at check in either!!!

Had a wonderful time

Posted Jul 18, 2014
Pros: Very beautiful hotel, with the perfect style for La Jolla.
Cons: Price of room was very high.
Location: Excellent location right next to the ocean, restaurants and shopping.
We stayed at La Valencia for three nights and had a wonderful time. This was our second stay at the hotel. The pool area and views are lovely. The staff were all great and very helpful. The room was quite expensive though.

Pros: People working there
Cons: Very slow bell men. No one came for my bags so it took two trips to carry my bags downstairs
Room needs painting and new bathroom door. Sliding door didn't close.

I can't imagine a place more lovely.

Posted Jul 8, 2014
Pros: Everything.
Cons: Nothing.
This hotel is always beyond perfect. The room, the staff, the restaurant and cafe, the sumptuous lobby - all just perfect. It overlooks La Jolla Cove and is within walking distance of anything needed or desired. La Valencia exceeds expectations whether one is traveling for romance/pleasure or business.

Hi, I am so sorry that you have a terrible impression of La V. We now know that a belt for the exhaust fan in the restaurant broke (has not ever happened), which caused the shaking and rattling in your room. It apparently had just happened and our staff was unaware at the time, and I do apologize for their behavior. I wish that we would have had a little more time to correct the situation as we have limited number of rooms that could accommodate your family. Again, my sincere apologies. Michele

Nice hotel in a good location

Posted Jun 25, 2014
Pros: Overall feel, location, bar
La V was a great hotel. Central to everything we wanted to do in La Jolla. Would stay here again, but would get a room with ocean front vs. ocean view. The only thing that would have made our stay better was a balcony on the room, but we knew it didn't have one when booking.
