A great place to enjoy R&R near a major city

Posted Jul 21, 2014
Pros: The friendly staff and the amazing views.
Cons: Place a second comfortable chair in the room.
Location: Minutes from downtown San Diego where there are great resturants, bars, theatres etc. very close by to the town of Coronado.
Beautiful place to stay minutes away from the stores & resturants of Coronado but more peaceful than staying downtown.

A wonderful hotel with very friendly staff

One of the best hotels I have stayed in. Very friendly staff, good food in restaurants, nice gym and spa, great pool area, shuttle into town was convenient, and cart ride to the beach where you can check out chairs and towels was great. Can't wait to come back again...

It was a nice clean resort, they could improve their customer service a bit, but overall we had a nice stay!

Pros: The beds are really comfortable and the bathrooms are really big. They provide Davines shampoo and conditioner which was very exciting!
Cons: Earlier check-in time. 4pm is really late! Also, $28 for self parking should just be non-existent and parking should be included in the resort fee.
Location: secluded location, you are limited to the resort and the beach across the street but the town isn't too far away.
I was really happy with this hotel. My boyfriend and I stayed here for a romantic getaway and we booked one night but landed up adding another night. It is away from town but they provide a car service that you need to book ahead of time and will drop you off there. The only downside is that the last one back to the hotel is around 10pm and if you want to stay out and have some drinks, you'll have to cab it back. We used uber one night and the ride back was only $10. There are a lot of families that stayed here and although we were trying to be on a little couples retreat, it didn't really bother us. They have 3 pools, one is an adult only pool. They have a lot of on site activities like tennis courts, basketball hoops, a million ping pong tables and some other yard games. Silversand beach is near the hotel and you can either walk there using their underpass which takes about 5 minutes or they offer a golf cart service to cart you to the beach. There is a LOEWS stand at the beach where you can take out beach chairs, umbrellas and towels for free which I thought was a nice touch. That beach however is pretty dingy with a lot of trash floating in the ocean and tons of seaweed that will wrap around your leg. We quickly went back to the pool. Their check-in time is 4pm which I find it pretty late! There check out time is noon and they do not offer late check out unless you want to pay half day rate and that only gives you an extra hour.

Nice but a bit pricey

Posted Jul 7, 2014
Pros: The staff were very thoughtful, polite, and friendly -- with the exception of the staff in the "Market-to-Go" who were dismissive and perfunctory.
Cons: The bed wasn't very comfortable and I hate the pillows (too squishy). Also the restaurant prices were ridiculously high.
Location: Coronado is a great little town, and a place that is closer to the "action" would be preferable for most people, I think.
The hotel was fairly nice and the staff was (for the most part) very nice. But the value was a bit lacking, I thought. The resort is not cheap, but the prices for the amenities while at the resort are bordering on absurd they're so high. The resort is QUITE remote but the price to have a car parked onsite is more expensive ($28/day) than the cost for a local to park onsite (free if they buy food, apparently--this was told to a friend who drove out to see us). SO even though you're paying $200 - $300 a night, and they're totally remote, they're going to gouge you on parking. and it doesn't stop there. Just to buy a cup of coffee in the lobby cafe (something other hotels often offer free) is more than you would pay in a Starbucks. I said I would recommend it to a friend, but to be honest I am more inclined to recommend a place closer in to town, either downtown Coronado or somewhere in San Diego proper. Something more convenient with more options. This resort wants to be the type of place that you're totally happy to never leave (which, imho, defeats the whole idea of vacationing on Coronado), but it isn't really special enough to merit the extreme prices of all of the additional amenities (and I'm loosely using the term 'amenities' here to include food!).

Coronado Island is hard to beat

Posted Jul 7, 2014
Pros: Location views and beach access were great. Coronado is great.
Cons: Don't let the locals park at the resort when you are at capacity.
Location: Coronado is awesome - Silver strand is awesome - San Diego Zoo is world class. Weather is great.
Location Location Location. Coronado is the place to visit in the summer. The valet golf cart service under the highway to the Silver Strand State Beach is priceless. The views on the deck overlooking the bay are awesome. BUT-they let every one and their mother park in the resort on the 4th of July and forced me to park Valet (although they only charged for self park after I complained).

Nice Hotel, but pricey

Posted Jul 7, 2014
Pros: We liked that you could order food and drinks at the pool. They coordinated group surf lessons through a business in Coronado.
Cons: Better waitress service on the deck off the main lobby, serviced by the bar. Lower prices for use of paddle boats, jets skiis etc. so they'd be used.
Location: Went to La Jolla on a hike, bike a kayak all day tour. Best beach in main town within walking distance. Great food in town about 10 miles away.
My daughter and I were in Coronado on vacation for 5 days. The rooms and pool were nice. The hotel staff was pleasant and helpful. Food at the resort was extremely expensive, service poor, and food was not great. The beach is located across a 4 lane highway. The best beach front is back in town and there are several great restaurants in town. You pay$25 a night for a resort fee, but only the use of the pool is free. There is also a $28 parking fee for the parking garage below the hotel. The resort charges a lot for the rooms, resort fee and parking and then everything else is $25 - $100. The value for the money is not there.

Nice hotel on Coronado island, beautiful bay views

Posted Jul 5, 2014
Excellent Hotel and staff. Great views of Coronado Bay. Good room service. 15 minutes drive to downtown San Diego. Closer to downtown Coronado. Has swimming pools and big bird cage. My daughter loved it (3 years old). You can rent a small boat or jet ski from the hotel. Pets allowed in the hotel, but did not bother us.
