“Decent hotel”

“Ocean Park Inn”

This 60's 70's style hotel is located on the beach. It is only minutes away from La Jolla and the San Diego Airport. There are several bars surrounding the hotel, which we did not participate in b/c of our 17 year old daughter. The pool and hot tub looked nice and the breakfast buffet was ok. The waffles were huge, but other than that not much besides cereal and muffins. Watch out for younger kids. California seems to have a real problem with children learning to wait in line to get what they want. The kids like to line jump or simply just walk in front of you for what they need. The parking garage is very compact. Do not rent a car larger than a mid-size car. Some people had large Dodge trucks and they look up two spaces. The front desk service was very helpful with check-in and explained about the restaurants in the area. Also, they helped us check-in online for our departing flight. Very nice people here and very secure area.

Area recommendations
We would recommend going to La Jolla to see the dolphins and sea lions/seals. This are had a lot of shopping, but you have to be patient to find a parking space. Oh, what your personal items. Do not set them down while walking along the sidewalk above the ocean. A lady took off her shoes and another lady put down her cell phone and they were stolen. Also, the view from Point Loma is great. It cost $5 to view the area. Also, I would not recommend the boat tours as we saw they only go out to the end of the bay, not in the open water.

“Will Definitely Return”

In my opinion it was very nice for the price, great views had balcony right on the boardwalk, very easy access to get too & a lot going on in the surrounding area.

Area recommendations
Mission Beach, Pacific Beach, LaJolla and the SeaWorld area are all within an easy walk or drive from this location, so much going on here too, a lot of fun.

“Best Location on San Diego Beaches”

This is our 3rd stay at this hotel and wouldn't think of staying anywhere else when visiting San Diego. Very courteous and efficient staff-hotel is always clean and well-run. And the location is just great. Everything you need within walking distance-great restaurants, grocery, pharmacy, beach rentals and of course, the beach right out the back door. Can't wait to go back!

“Right on the beach!”

The location was great and very easy to find. I did have to pay for the hotel's parking garage but it was very convenient and well worth it. The staff was friendly and even gave us discount coupons for local restaurants. I had asked for a full ocean view room and we did receive this. There were plenty of nice restaurants and neat beach shops within walking distance. I was very happy that I chose this hotel in this location for our vacation.

Area recommendations
We mainly stayed around the hotel unless driving to a destination such as Seaworld or the Zoo. We did sign up for surfing lessons and did not realize it was a short drive to La Jolla. At first I wished the lesson would have been closer, but it did allow us to take a scenic drive and see other areas we normally would not have seen.
What to pack
light jacket or hoodie because it's cooler in San Diego than many people would think.
Dining
We enjoyed the Green Flash restaurant on the beach near the hotel. There was also a small dive of a place just past this restaurant with picnic style tables outside. I don't know what the name was but they had the best breakfast burritos! (I think better than Kono's which gets a lot of rave reviews)

“Great Location”

This hotel is conveniently located on Pacific Beach. Shops, bars and restaurants are all within walking distance. My room was on the end across from 2 bars, so it was noisy until closing time. Next time I will request a room on the other side of the hotel.

The area the hotel is in is perfect. The hotel is right on Pacific Beach. There is a Ralph's market across the street, as well as many shops, bars, restaurants and beach rentals.

“Great Place and Great Location”

The hotel had the best location and the best service! I travel a few times a year and I can't get over the exceptional service and accomodations. The staff is great and helpful. The location is right on the beach and within great places to eat. The pool area is well maintained. When I visit San Diego again, I will be staying here!!

Area recommendations
PB Beach Club is right next to the hotel. While it does have the best fish tacos I have ever had, it lacked in service. The bouncer and bartenders were very rude and not attentive. The Green Flash and World Famous were great places to eat and within walking distance. If you feel like an early morning walk, go to Broken Yolk Cafe....Wonderful!! Enjoy :)

“Great hotel on the beach!”

I really like this hotel and will definitely go back! It's in a great location on the beach with lot's of places to eat/drink locally. It's close to Sea World and not far from the downtown warf/marina area, PetCo Park and the San Diego Zoo/Air & Space Museum in Balboa Park are not much farther and easy to get to. They've done some rennovation since I was there last and are working on their kitchen/breakfast area. I really like what they've done. I think they've replaced the beds also....I don't remember the beds being as comfortable the first time as they were this time. I had some of the best sleep I've had in years. The staff were friendly and helpful and always smiling and checking to see if you need anything. The local food is very good....Joe's Crab Shack is just a half block south and World's Famous a couple blocks south of that. Across the street was Ale House and I had a really good sandwich there one afternoon. We tried to do to much....next time there will be less running around and more relaxing at the hotel.....but there will definitely be a next time!

Area recommendations
Go see a ball game if the Padres are in town. I was really impressed with PetCo Park. The Zoo and several other museums are not far and well worth the time. I enjoyed the Air and Space Museum. The Wild Animal Park was fun, but make sure you go early as the hours are limited and there's lot's to see. Also, do not make the mistake of going back up I-5 to get there...take I-15, it's a lot quicker.

“Great location, Nice place, not so good customer service.”

Enjoyed our stay over the Thanksgiving weekend. This place is locted right on Pacific Beach and is in walking distance to just about everything you need for that casual beach type vacation. Rooms were clean and up to date but the front desk person was rude and of little help. We arrived to check in and was told we were to early and would have to return...this was not a problem. I left our bags at the front desk and we proceded to go to lunch. Befor we left my wife decided to run back inside to use the rest room. She was asked for a room # which we were not given yet and then she was turned away. We also asked if it was possible to maybe have our room upgraded sinced it seemed to be very slow this holiday weekend. We were told no since they had a full hotel booked for the weekend. Let me tell you the hotel was at about 30% capacity, for what we could see. . Not good customer service!
