Fantastic

Pros: Cleanliness, friendly and helpful staff, comfortable rooms.
Location: Well centrally located to everything in downtown.
The Palomar Hotel in San Diego was fabulous to stay at. Very clean and comfortable, the staff were very helpful to a first time US traveller. The hotel was very clean, warm and inviting. Being in the center of town, it was close to the shops, restaurants and transit system (and Santa Fe station). I would highly recommend this hotel to anybody staying in San Diego for a period.

Pros: The bed, the bathroom, the lobby, and pool.
Cons: PARKING!!!
Location: Gaslamp District, Little Italy
My husband and I went to San Diego for a week getaway and decided to stay here since it was in the Gaslamp District. First off, I would ONLY recommend this hotel to people who don't have to park their car or are ok with paying a ton of money to park. There was NO free parking. At all. Valet here is a whopping $38 a day! There is a parking garage directly across the street but its $28 a day. Well I shouldn't say a day because if you park your car there longer than a few hours you still have to pay $28 if you want to leave-even if you want to grab dinner and come right back. Ridiculous. It's next to impossible to find a spot on the street. Anyway, we stayed in the Skyview King suite and it was definitely a nice room. The couch was microfiber and there was some nasty stains on it though. I called the front desk and asked for a sheet to lay over it and they were up at our room literally less than 5 minutes later. Everything else was very clean and comfortable. The beds are definitely the softest beds I've ever slept in at a hotel (and I've been to many hotels). There was just a sliding glass door between the bedroom and bathroom, which was pretty and modern but it left a big gap where you can see right into the bathroom. Not a problem for couples, but you don't get much privacy if you are going to the bathroom. The hotel was beautiful and the staff was super friendly.

Excellent location in downtown San Diego
Posted Jan 12, 2013
Pros: Spacious, well appointed room
Location: Excellent central location
The Palomar is very well located in downtown San Diego and close to a range of good shops and restaurants. There is a trolley stop within a 1 minute stroll that connects with the Santa Fe rail depot. The San Diego conference centre is a comfortable 20 minute stroll. The Hotel staff were polite, though did not come across as particularly enthusiastic about their work. Our room was spacious with a large bedroom and large ensuite, separate second toilet and separate "lounge" area. The rooms were well appointed. The linen was high quality and spotless, but the lounge decor was badly marked and the soft furnishings stained to the point that the seating was uninviting. The wifi was free provided you joined the Kimpton rewards club.

Pros: Size of room, moderness of room & facilities and location.
Location: Virtually in the Gaslamp district, cafe's, bars, supermarkets and trolley.
Could not fault this hotel. Terrific location virtually next door to the Gaslamp district where it's all happening. Moder hotel with very large rooms. The bed is one of the most comfortable I've experienced at a hotel! The staff were friendly and helpful, and they offer all guests free drinks in the foyer nightly. Highly recommend to anyone visiting San Diego.
