We arrived at 3:50, check in is at 4:00, and waited until 4:20. The room was small and hard to navigate around. The entrance to the room and closet area has poor lighting. We reported to hot water not working at 11:30 pm and they said the maintenance people start at 07:00 am. I reported the hot water again at 07:00 and did not hear back from them so I reported again at 7:30. At 7:45 and maintenance person came to the room and after 7 minutes said the hot water was working. I discovered you have to turn the hot water on and it takes 5 to 7 minutes to warm-up. If they had told me that I would have understood. I stay in hotels a lot and never experienced that before. The lounge and staff were great as were the housekeeping. Upon checkout I called for my car and to have my bags brought down. The car was there we arriving downstairs but waited for the bags. After 5 minutes and went to the room and brought the bags down myself.

Pros: friendliness coffee in morning wine in evening
Cons: wifi should be less complicated should not have to sign up with whole chain
Location: bus service shopping very easy to walk around
a very pleasant experience would definitely stay there again, nice walk to convention centre ad harbour .many restaurant's to choose from. Only negative not used to street smoking.

Nice hotel with a great location downtown. Very friendly staff and modern rooms. The hotel doesn't have its own parking area though, so be prepared to search for street parking or pay for their $40 a night valet.

Great staff! Great location!

Pros: Everything!!!!!!!!!!
Cons: Bathroom is beautiful, but the door is glass, doesn't cover the whole opening, leaving for lack of privacy (especially next to the hall door).
Location: Perfect location near restaurants and shops!
Loved the atmosphere! Staff was wonderful! Wine hour everyday! Great way to meet other guests! Location is perfect! Loved, loved, loved!

San Diego fun

This was a gem of a stay! Lovely hotel in a great location. Even with construction going on we had a fantastic stay. The room was bright, clean and roomy. The hotel staff were exceptional! Only change I would have liked was the sliding glass bathroom door. It didn't close enough so privacy was an issue. As well the bathroom fan didn't work which added to the problem. I would however definitely stay there again.

Nice hotel in the popular gaslamp area

The hotel was undergoing some construction and that made it less nice. The room wasn't huge, but it was comfortable. I didn't get a sense that it was immaculately clean either. The check out was at 11 and check-in at 4. This felt sort of rushed. I would consider staying here again if the price was right, otherwise I would go elsewhere for the money. It is pet friendly.

Classy, but.....

Had to call down for ice, which means I had to tip someone for every bucket of ice. $40 daily parking. Cleaning staff never washed or replaced he drinking glasses . Dirty from day1

Loved this Hotel!!

This place was awesome!! I would recommend it to anyone that wants to be in the heart of Gaslamp district. as soon as you walk out the front door of the hotel you are next to fun bars and restaurants. House of blues was next door and there was an other bar that was part of the hotel that was super fun. The hotel staff was super nice, their coffee was great and the hotel was super clean. I loved that they would bring you anything that you forgot, even a flat iron or curling iron cause I needed both. The room was a little small but nice, didn't bother me and my boyfriend since we weren't in the room that long anyways. We went to the uss midway which was a lot of fun and the San Diego Zoo was super awesome, it was only a 4minute uber ride. Oh and I also loved the fact that the hotel had a dog at the front desk to greet you, but I am a dog lover! :)

Perfect Mix and Right Price. Best Value Hotel

Pros: EVERYTHING...literally.
Cons: I honestly can't think of anything. I would say shuttle service, but not sure that's even required.
Location: Right in the middle of the downtown/gas lamp district of SD. It was a 10 minute ($13) cab ride to the airport.
I've always been impressed with Kimpton Hotels. They're the perfect mix of quality, comfort, location, cost, and trendiness. The hotel is right smack in the middle of the San Diego Gas Lamp District, the staff we're super welcoming and helpful, and the room was very clean and modern with a touch of class. It was pretty nice when we came into our room to find a personal handwritten note from Sandra, who cleaned our room. The also have a legit events for guests (i.e. free coffe/tea in the morning, a nice lunch special, and a great happy hour). They also have a great restaurant/bar in the hotel, which almost makes it unnecessary to leave to find something to do. While I didn't get to take advantage of their Summer Salt Pool, but I've been there before and it's a great scene during the day and at night.

Dont stay here... Noisy and bad area

Over priced valet $40 per night. Area had a ton of homelessness there. Hotel was doing construction but we were not told about it until we got into our room with a note and ear plugs!
