Dirty

The hot tub was dirty and the rails near my room was covered in bird feces. The hotel staff was nice. The room was good sized for the amount I paid.

I'm not fussy, but I was still displeased

Posted Apr 24, 2015
Pros: The grounds are very nice and by far the best thing about this hotel.
Cons: It needs to be clean. After that, consider what the clientele would want. It's too drab to please most vacationers.
Location: It's Carlsbad, which is in North San Diego County. Legoland is right there. Do you really need to be told what to do in San Diego?
For a business traveler, this place was an unpleasant bump in the road. For a vacationing family visiting Legoland, this place could ruin your trip. I killed a cockroach within the first hour occupying the room. That should be enough information for most people. I was on a business trip, and I'm not fussy. All I ask for is clean and functional. This place was neither. This is an older property, but not older in a charming way. There was nothing aesthetically pleasing about the room. There was an old bed, a nightstand, a chest of drawers, a table, two uncomfortable desk chairs, a mini fridge with the door propped open, a coffee maker (with only decaf coffee), a microwave oven and a flat screen TV. There was nothing on the walls at all. Yes, I know hotel room "art" is usually laughable, but with four bare walls, this room felt like a cell. I don't watch TV, so I have no idea how well the TV worked. I do use the Internet, and the wireless connection did not work well. In the afternoon, the connection was slow but usable. In the evening it wasn't available. Most likely the bandwidth was totally consumed by other guests. The air conditioner kind of worked, but was very noisy. Water in the shower was warm, but not hot. The tile grout in the bathroom was stained, as was the old carpet. Complimentary breakfast was typical and will please most people just fine.

The stay was average for the price. Nothing exciting. It was however unfortunate that the pool was unavailable for use. The complimentary breakfast was ok. Check in & out was fast due to prepaid which was good.

Disappointed

Posted Apr 13, 2015
The room was ok. Had a separate bedroom which was nice. The location was quick to the freeway. But the wifi didn't work. It didn't even register in the room. We had a room for 5 but only got two towels. When we asked the maid for more she said we had to speak to the front desk. The pool and jacuzzi were being cleaned while we were there so we couldn't use them. So when I looked specifically for a place with free wifi and a pool, we were disappointed. I'm sure another room would be better for wifi and another time would have been better for the pool and jacuzzi. But when we were there the things we wanted were not available. Makes it a little over priced.

It was excellent for the price we paid.

Pros: The private bedroom and full kitchen.. Great location..
Cons: Newer furniture.. Better buffet breakfast. The breakfast was OK and had scrambled eggs and bacon and had two waffle makers, but it was cramped!
We got a great price and it was certainly worth it for the price. We saved over $60 dollars a night over the La Quinta which was right next door and we a one bedroom suite that had a full kitchen!! The pool was down when we were there, but it didn't effect us as we wouldn't have used it anyway. A pump broke so the pool was not filtering and they fixed it quickly, but it was down and not useable for two days. All in all it was comfortable and great unit for the price. For a family of four with small kids, it was a private bedroom and a hide-a-bed couch for kids or one adult. Only one block from the beach, the location was great! As we only slept there it was more than adequate for us..

Disappointing

Posted Apr 9, 2015
A passable experience, but that's about it. Upon arrival, we were informed that the pool and jacuzzi were not functional and never were in the three days we were there (even though I was told it would be fixed the next day). Horrible news when you have 3 kids who are totally looking forward to going swimming before going to Legoland. I would have liked them to be a bit more proactive, and send emails out to those checking in that day. At least then we could have made a decision on if we wanted to book another hotel. Room was good enough. Bowever, for a suite, the space was poorly designed and a bit on the small side. Breakfast buffet was good. Get there early as inside seating is way too limited. And having breakfast when it's cold outside isn't too much fun. Upon checkout, I was not asked how our stay was, a fitting and symbolic ending too a hotel that just didn't seem to care much. Definitely a one and done.

never again will i stay at a ramada

Posted Apr 8, 2015
Pros: The staff and lg parking spaces
Cons: remodel
Location: It is in a great location but needs to be brought up to the ramada standards that made it.
First of all we were not notified about the pool area being completly closed off for the wknd. The rooms where outdated, the fold out couch looked like it had been there since the 80's no filler,it was completly flat. Truly just needs a complete remodel no joke anyone who stays will be disapointed.

Horrible beds

Posted Apr 5, 2015
The beds were horrible especially the sofa bed! The facility was clean and the room was okay. I have to say that the staff service was very good and the continental breakfast was better than average.
