Quiet rooms, great staff, but aging facilityPosted Jul 25, 2015
Pros: Rooms are off noisy streets, so you get a good sleep. Staff is helpful and friendly.
Cons: Aging hotel needs a remodel to spiff up the rooms.
Location: Close to the bay, Gastown and restaurants. Free shuttle to everything you'd want, including airport.
After a noisy night at another San Diego hotel, we moved to Red Roof and were rewarded with a quiet night. The hotel is showing its age, however, with TV cord needing repair, a slow shower drain and similar issues. But staff is top-notch, offering to help with our flight check-in and printing the boarding passes for us. And the Red Roof offers a free breakfast plus free shuttle rides to many locations around the city. Overall, a surprisingly positive little downtown hotel.

Don't judge by the outsidePosted Jul 19, 2015
Outdoor hotels always seem sketchy to me but this hotel was nice. Rooms were spacious and clean! Staff was very friendly. Definitely staying here again!

Low standards at a high price.Posted Jul 19, 2015
Pros: Location within a mile of the baseball park.
Cons: Room odour and decor. Wi fi, currently un usable. More choice for breakfast and improve the room atmosphere. No plastic plates and utensils.
Location: Within a mile of baseball park.
We needed to stay in downtown San Diego so that we could watch the baseball on the Friday night. The hotel had to be within walking distance of the baseball park. A search on the internet found this hotel which was available and had a free breakfast and wi fi. The room had an unpleasant odour like stale tobacco or boiled cabbage, it was a non smoking room. The room was clean. The wi fi is unusable, basic web pages take minutes to load and I gave up after a while. The free breakfast was a buffet of very basic items served in a room that would not be out of place in a prison. Plastic plates and utensils included. The only positive was an automatic pancake machine. I did not enjoy staying at this hotel and it was very over priced for the standard provided, the only good thing I can say about it was that it was located within a mile of the baseball park.

For Comic Con 2015Posted Jul 14, 2015
Pros: Staff, location, coffee, shuttle bus, breakfast
Cons: Cleaner (please look under the bed Red Roof,) internet needs to be faster, TV quality needs to be HD, price of room
Location: Dominoes, Mexican place, deli's, bars and not far from The Balboa Theater.
It was my first trip to SD and my first trip to San Diego Comic Con. Hotel is approx 1.1 miles from the convention center. Still walking distance, but a shorter walk to the shuttle bus (1 block over.) I didn't want to wait for a hotel room after I got tickets for SDCC and I thought this was the best choice of what I could find that was not across the street from the convention. Staff is great: very helpful and friendly. I thought the location was very good, some alone time from the chaos of the Con :) AC worked just fine. Coffee available in the lobby all day, nice. Shuttle bus to and from the airport available, very helpful. The room could have been cleaner, Red Roof please check under the bed. Internet needs to be faster. TV quality should be HD. The price was very high, but I think all hotels were high for the convention. I think the place is easily a 5 if it weren't the parts to improve. I will consider this place for my next trip to SDCC (fingers crossed.)

Location: On top of a very high hill. If walking the last 2 blocks are very tough.
Very basic accomadations which would be $79 to $99 anywhere else. Prices were skyhigh due to comic-con.

Lacks CleanlinessPosted Jun 25, 2015
Pros: The gentleman at the front desk was helpful when I had questions.
Cons: Although the room has nice furniture and wood flooring, it's not clean at all. The bathroom could use a good cleaning.
Staff is helpful and the location is good. However, the $16/day parking charge was an unpleasant surprise. The rooms lack of cleanliness was my big issue. There was constantly a musty smell in the room which I believe was coming from an unclean bathroom. I don't think room service cleaned the floors because I kept discovering hair and other items on the floor. And on the last day of my stay, room service left no wash clothes.

Good location, that's itPosted Jun 20, 2015
Stayed here for just one night. Good price of $84. Obviously, you get what you pay for. Cons: Hotel definitely needs some serious updating. Bed noisy and uncomfortable, some stains on linens, doors get stuck, furniture worn, nicked, broke. Pros: laminate floor, room did appear clean, great downtown location, staff very friendly.

Good for a short visit.Posted Jun 20, 2015
Pros: Close to the airport, good price.
Cons: Not much, really. It was a good bargain for the price.
Room was clean, but small. Bathroom was good sized, but very little counter space. it's an old motel, and the room had some dings on the walls, but overall it was clean and tidy. Continental breakfast was nothing to write home about, but looked adequate and was kept clean and stocked as people came and went. For an overnight between flights, it was a good choice and the price was right. I do want to say that the staff was very friendly and helpful; I was very impressed by their efficiency and friendliness.

Tolle LagePosted Jun 17, 2015
Tolle Lage, gutes Personal. Wir haben uns sicher gefühlt und auch der Glaslamp Quarter war zu Fuß kein Problem.
