“Great room but not as clean as we like”
Am used to staying at Marriott and not finding the things that you find at other hotel chains- such as hairs in the bathroom that do not belong to you or dirty, greasy cupboard doors. Besides these few things I had to clean myself, the rooms were large and comfortable, staff pleasant and food was great!
“Super family friendly!”
Loved this hotel. We had a room with a separate bedroom (king suite) and the kitchen made traveling with 2 year old very easy. The hotel served a good breakfast every morning and evening meals during the week. It was only 5 minutes to Sea World and 10 minutes to the Zoo. There was a big shopping area nearby. Also, this hotel has a 1 foot deep kid pool plus a regular pool. The room was big, clean and comfortable. Great bargin for everything thing you get. We would most definately go back, this was exactly what we were looking for in a hotel. The information on this site doesn't do it justice.
“Our new favorite hotel in San Diego!”
Large rooms, great kitchen area!
“Overall good family hotel”
I really enjoyed our stay at the Residence Inn, the kids really enjoyed the heated pool, and the breakfast buffet in the morning was fabulous. The only thing I would recommend is more waffle makers!!! The staff was very courteous and made sure we were taking care of at all times. We will definitley be back!!!
“Good for families, but missing a few amenities...”
Chose the hotel becuase of proximity to Sea World and becuase you can always count on the standard RI Marriott amenities (I thought). The hotel was lacking many family or kids TV stations and there was no pay per view. We always purchase pay per view on family weekends and vacations, so that was disappointing. Additionally, the gym is currently under renoavation and not available. Overall, the hotel is acceptable, but should really follow the usual RI Marriott script more closely. I would recommend the hotel with some qualification, however in SD there are a ton of choices in this price range. Unless I really got a good deal on the room rate, I'd probably choose something else...
“Overall, a great experience”
We had a wonderful stay at the Residence Inn in Mission Valley. Great value! Excellent location! Free breakfast was wonderful and were shocked to discover the hotel also provides free dinner (including free beer and wine!!) Mon-Thurs. It was actually quite good! The hotel was under construction when we were there, so there were a few noise issues, but we'll definitely back when they're done with their remodel! The staff was exceptional. So helpful, so great with our kids and so welcoming. Like I said, we'll definitely be back.
“Don't go to breakfast without a sweater!”
We were disappointed due to 3 factors: 1. Walls were paper thin. we could hear next door neighbor snoring 2. Can't go to buffet breakfast without exiting the hotel. (wings don't connect.) it was very windy and cold when we had to run through light rain to go eat breakfast. 3. Printer didn't work for 2 days, so we could not print our boarding pass. They did apologize, but -- guess what: it was because they were out of toner! hint: stock extra toner. we won't stay here next time, and we usually love Marriotts
“Won't be going back”
I sure expected more when this was booked. I had a one bedroom suite and my first complaint is that the wall that the beds are on in the room has a television on the other side in the room next door. The wall must not have any sound insulation in it because I could hear my neighbor's t.v. way better than I wanted to well past 1:00 a.m. I called the front desk and they said they would investigate but nothing happened to quiet the noise. In the morning, I could actually hear my neighbor snoring through the wall. Besides that annoyance, the couch in the room had two rips in the fabric and was obviously in need of being replaced. The food at the included breakfast was horrible! All in all, I would never return to this property and felt I did not get much in return for a premium price paid.
“Very good (with a minor comment about car parking)”
I stayed at this hotel when I visited San Diego with my family. We liked it very much and would definitely stay here again. It was close to Sea World, Zoo and Harbor. Only minor thing was that they charge $10 a night for car parking. At this cost, its my opinion that they should not.
“Solid as a Rock”
Over all the hotel was good. The staff was helpful and the breakfast buffet was good. They offered a happy hour for all hotel guest. If I had one complaint it was that there was not a restaurant in the hotel to eat at but there are a ton of great restaurants within 5 minutes of the hotel so not that big of a deal. All in All a great stay!! The beds were super comfortable!!!
