“Gone down hill since they became the Roadway Inn”
The room had cigarrette ashes every where, and I had to clean up, even though front desk was notified (Igave them a 5 hour window of time to get clean,as I was going to be out of the room). The breakfast was probably fresh the week before. The rolls were very stale no fruit and little cereal available. I also ate breakfast with a local homeless man, who kept asking me for money and cigarettes. After seeing the amount of trash and beer cans littering the parking lot in the morning, the homeless man in the breakfast room, I was glad to have my son,who is in the Marine Corp staying with me for security. Will not be returning to stay there on my yearly trip to Oceanside, CA
“convenient”
I stayed here alone for 5 days this summer while visiting my son , a Marine and his family, including my newborn grandson. I found it very nicely located to major expressways with easy on and off from both the 5 as well as the 76. I especially liked that it was close to the main gate of Camp Pendleton as well as downton Oceanside. I really liked how close it was to the pier and beaches. I did have a car that helped me get around, as I wold not recommend walking to attractions as it can be a hike in some instances. I found my room was clean, furnished adequately for the price I paid and was cleaned daily. The maids figured out I was smoking out on my patio( had a ground floor room) and brought me an ashtray the second day of my stay. I never felt threatened or in danger at any time during my stay.
“Very close to Camp Pendleton”
This is a great place to stay if you're heading to Camp Pendleton early the next morning! Good breakfast, comfortable rooms, overall worth the price I paid.
“Nice Weekend Retreat”
We stayed here as a weekend retreat . I'm from San Diego and my wife is from Oceanside. Every once in awhile we'll spend a day of hiking, relaxing, sun, fun, surf, dining, and watching a sunset in Oceanside. We choose to stay here because of the price and location. It's not a 5 star hotel, but it's a clean room and a place to shower and sleep. If you are planning to do outdoor activites (because you're a mile from the beach) then this is a good option to stay. If you are looking to stay at the hotel all day then you may want to consider another hotel or resort. You get what you pay for. This place is a decent price for a room; a mile from the beach, harbor, or base; and a free breakfast in the morning.
“I ALWAYS STAY HERE! ALWAYS!”
These people are the kindest, most accommodating people I have ever met. EVERY TIME I go to the San Diego area, I stay with them. I have been doing this for the 3.5 years that my son has been a Marine. They always give me the best rates, best service and kindest conversation. They care more about the people that are staying in the hotel, then earning a dollar. Whenever I have needed anything, from an extra bed, to extra towels, to another key they are prompt, courteous and professional. The rooms have a great view of the ocean, the pool is clean and fun to splash around in, and the drive to the beach is about 2 minutes away. It is close to all the harbor activities, with the greatest little places to eat and shop. It is also the EASIEST Hotel to find, right off of I-5! I would recommend this hotel to everyone staying in the Oceanside area.
“Will not return”
Two adults traveling with four kids (split evenly into two rooms) so not many hotels to choose from as this apparently exceeded many hotel limits. We requested non-smoking rooms but both rooms reeked of cigarette smoke, the only thing "non-smoking" about them was the prominent "No Smoking" signs on the door. We left the windows open and the A/C on "vent" the two nights we stayed there, but this didn't help. We were on the third floor and the guest elevator was annoyingly slow, noisy and had lots of old vandalism damage. The pool closed at 8:00 p.m., but that may not matter as it is unheated and it was too cold for comfort, even in August. Not very well maintained and overall not what I consider a good, or even adequate, option for family travel and certainly not a good value.
“California Daze”
Bath water was always tepid!!!
“Very small rooms near freeway”
I was shocked when I opened the door and found a tiny, tiny room....and excessive freeway noise. The room is too small for even a table or chair...its just a bed and tv stand/dresser. It seems like a deal, but stay away if you want some peace and quiet and/or some room to move.
“Omg! Never Again!”
So first things first I booked a standard room non-smoking with a queen bed... I ended up in a standard room smoking with a full size bed... Secondly the hot water for the shower randomly turns on and off... you could have a nice, warm, relaxing shower on minute and the next have freezing water everywhere. Then there was the cockroach... The room smells utterly disgusting... Like it's never been aired out before... The lining of the tub is peeling away around the drain... The light in the bathroom is liable to cause seizures with its rapid flickering... There is no way to control the temperature in the room... It's either to hot or too cold... It has a sliding glass door that opens to the parking lot on the ground floor... This was a total disaster and I will never use this hotel again in any city!!!
