Delightful surprisePosted Sep 21, 2013 on Hotels.com
We had no real idea what we had signed up for when we made the reservation. Further, we received a call about 4pm, two hours away from La Jolla, telling us the office would be closed when we arrived, but also explaining how to access the room key. We took a deep breath wondering what we had gotten in to. Well, we could not have been more delighted. The room was a delight, across the street from the coast, views of the ocean from the room, a delightful porch outside the room which overlooked the ocean, a well appointed spacious room with a couch, chairs, tables, and comfortable king bed. The next day the staff was very helpful and accessible. They made excellent recommendations for both dinner and breakfast. Bottom line...we wish we could have stayed several more nights. By the way, the cost was very reasonable.

The staff was very friendly and caring, check in and out was quick and easy, other guests were considerate. The parking lot was very small and difficult to get in and out of, extra parking was in back in an alley that didn't seem safe. The biggest problem was that every night we were overpowered by the strong smell of sewage, which they said was due to the seaweed in the ocean. I'm sure that is correct, but the smell was so overpowering it woke me out of a sound sleep both nights we were there and I was unable to go back to sleep. If we closed all the windows it was too stuffy, there was no air conditioning, so we we could only use the ceiling fan. I ended up taking 2 of my allergy pills and finally got some sleep. Also, the refrigerators are in the bathroom and to use the hair dryer you have to unplug the refrigerator every time as there is no other outlet and the plugs do not fit otherwise. Aside from these major issues, it is a nice place. But I won't be spending that kind of money to stay there again!

a glorified motel, not an innPosted Aug 7, 2013 on Hotels.com
Having stayed at many B&B's, this was by far the worst! We were totally mislead by its glamorous photos and description - both bent reality! Room was dark with a stuffy, acrid, smoke residue smell. Had to keep shutters closed for privacy along with windows open for cool ocean breeze as there was no AC. This posed a problem at night with cars of other inn guests literally right outside the door - coming, going, horn beeps, doors slammed & talking! Room patios/balconies were just the 3 foot wide walkways to the room with 2 cushioned table chairs placed there. Lobby was really a small office with a counter and bookcase to the side where the 'deluxe' continental breakfast was set up at 8 a.m. It consisted of k-cup coffee with coffee mate, packaged oatmeal, open bowl of their homemade granola, pastries & muffins similar to those found in the local grocery and individual containers of juice - all served in styrofoam with plastic utensils to be placed on a tray to eat elsewhere. The two inch thick, stiff, fiber like bed pillows were better better suited for chair cushions. The bed shams were better suited as the actual pillow, but smelled horrible. Could go on, but it isn't worth it. Very expensive for the quality of what is provided, Only positives were the location and the outside sitting area. Make sure you bring your febreze, own pillows and request the end rooms closest to the water!

Modern room, great location.Posted Jul 26, 2013 on Hotels.com
me and my family stayed here for one night. The room was very comfortable and modern, the bed was extremely comfortable can the decor was very nice.the best attribute of this place is its location, it is right across the street from the beach. the only negative thing was that the floors of the rooms above us were very creaky and slightly annoying.

It was perfectPosted Jul 22, 2013 on Hotels.com
The room was clean and cozy, the breakfast was great and the location was perfect for celebrating an anniversary. It was far enough away from the hustle and bustle of other hotels, but still close enough to walk downtown to eat and windowshop. We would definitely come back and stay there again. The only problem was the after hour phone next to the lobby wasn't working properly when we came to check in.

Quaint hotel steps from the beach.Posted Jul 22, 2013
Location: Museum, beach, and stores on Prospect are all walking distance from the hotel.
Cozy hotel; steps from restaurants, beach and no need for your car.
