A great place to stay.

Pros: The room and balcony
Cons: The first experience at your gift shop the lady didn't understand English too well.
Location: The GasLight area. That was the first place we visited. We went to the San Diego Zoo and Sea World. We enjoyed both of these places.
We loved the room and view we had. The only thing I would like to have seen is a phone book in the room. The balcony was very soothing. We just sat and enjoyed the view of the bay. I definitely recommend this hotel.

I was not expecting that experience

It took us to over 1.5 hours to check in. One room had a wet carpet, an other room had a wet ceiling and the hotel stuff new nothing about that. The only restaurant in the hotel was not what we expecting. it took us over an hour to get us our order and it was wrongly prepared and not kids could not eat the basic mac n cheese. The towels we stained in the room. The manager on duty was very un professional. His idea of service is: attack is the best defense. The way he spoke with us, was really not the way he was suppose to. The first thing he told us that because we booked with Expedia, they cannot give us a refund (we didn't ask for it). After all day on the road with the toddles we needed a quick service and not his attitude. So we did get a breakfast coupon after asking for it and later when we checked out we got the parking for free. Not going to this place ever again

Don't be fooled!

Pros: Bay tower, 8th floor had a nice view of the bay and a patio outside
Cons: Read above
Location: Ocean beach
The hotel has a section called "Lanai" that is a 2 star motel experience - it's on the outside of the hotel; it's dirty (out and inside) and feels like the hotel treats it like an adopted slave child. There isn't even proper signage directing guests to the location of the rooms. I was lost and took 15 minutes to find my room. After I found mine, I had to help another guest find hers - I just could not let a lady walk around lost in the open area. The hotel starts filling those rooms when the main section is filled. I, unfortunately, was subject to that since there was a large group attending an event there that weekend (which I was a part of). Fortunately the Sheraton Bay tower, just 3 minutes walk away, was available and after one night sleeping in that crappy Lanai section, I was able to move to the Bay tower which is more like a 4 star experience. At least the Bay tower was clean. The hiccup in the Bay tower was the restaurant - I waited 25 minutes to get my crab cake burger! I asked a question why the food took that long and was compensated with a free meal. That's fine but I can afford my meal and would have preferred to pay for a better experience - good tasting burger that came in decent time. Furthermore, the restaurant was relatively empty (less than 1/2 full). All in all the infrastructure design/order and flow of the hotel makes no sense! Staff were relatively helpful in my move to the Bay tower from Lanai. Don't eat in the hotel. Go directly to the Bay tower.

I got a very nice room with the sea view in marina tower. Although I had to wait for nearly an hour for the room cleaning, it was worthy though.

MY STAY AT SHERATON MARINA TOWER

Posted Sep 8, 2014
Pros: The view of the Bay & Marina & City skyline
Cons: Discount parking for hotel guests. There was none. We were charged $24/day.
Location: Cruises, restaurants, walking by the Bay/Marina, SD zoo & Balboa park, La Jolla Cove, Mission Bay, SD Botanic garden in Encinita, the Safari & more.
Nothing much to write about. If I forget about the unnecessary expenses (such as parking!) I could have a really super time at the hotel, notwithstanding the noise of taking off/landing flights. I forget about these annoyances when I sit on the balcony looking at the city skyline & Coronado bridge at night. It's a tranquil experience just to sit there & breathe in the colorful sights. I enjoy exercising not at the gymn but brisk-walking by the SD Bay & the Marina.

Great views and close to everything

Pros: Close to everything we wanted to do and nice to have a hotel shuttle to/from the airport.
Cons: Breakfast buffet - for the price it was terrible. Price for overnight parking was outrageous and a dirt lot where we had to park.
Location: City Trolley Tour, Airport, Port Loma, Downtown and more. Overall a perfect location for us.
Across from the airport, trolley pick up at the hotel, rental cars across the street (cheaper than hotel offers) and beautiful inside and out.
