"Nice hotel covenient to Carlsbad State Beach"
This was a nice hotel and conveniently located across the street from Carlsbad Stage Beach. It was nice to have a place to sleep near our children who were camping with grandparents. The food was good and the staff was great!

"Nice hotel, but has a lot of fees assoc. w/stay"
I stated that I would recommend, because there is no "Maybe" option. The fees would sway me to stay elsewhere. We enjoyed going to the pool/hot tub, but on 2 occasions, even though rules are posted, there were 8 kids under 8 yrs. old in the hot tub and no room for adults (signs posted saying no kids). Kids were also playing football in the pool and we almost got hit in the head by it ( again signs posted saying no ball playing). Hotel staff should enforce rules if they are going to post them. Not happy with MANDATORY resort fee, providing bike rental (which we do not use), and 2 bottles of water free a day. With CA water shortage they might want to rethink - we don't think a hotel should impose fees for things, you should just have the option to buy them if you want them!

"Very nice, beautiful, and family friendly hotel. "
I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel. They keep the area clean and the plants are well kept. The only thing I could think of that made the stay a little less enjoyable were the towels in the bathroom which were very rough. There were also 2-3 small spiders in the bathroom, harmless but still creepy. I noticed there were spider webs on random plants outside. Maybe getting rid of those spiderwebs by power washing the front of the bungalow porch will prevent the little critters from getting inside. Overall great experience though. I was with my 1year old and he enjoyed seeing the ducks walk around freely on the hotel property.

Great place close to Del Mar with a great value. The rooms are nice, some of the esthetics are not being updated so the carpets and the baseboards could be updated. For me this was no big deal the hotel had a good restaurant, gym, and pool. I would defiantly stay there again.

Best and Worst Times to Visit San Diego

Some say it’s always 70 F and sunny in San Diego. While this coastal city does boast very comfortable temperatures year round, the area cools down a bit during the winter, especially at night. The winter months also see more rain than the rest of the year, but it usually doesn’t sprinkle for more than a day or two at a time.

At the beach, the temperatures are slightly cooler than inland, even during the summer months. Also down at the beach, during late spring the marine layer sometimes causes fog to roll in, which has led the locals to nickname the months May Gray and June Gloom. Although the fog usually burns off by the afternoon, avoid this time of year if you’re looking to soak up the California sunshine all day long.

The summertime is bright and sunny with temperatures hovering around the 70s and 80s F. However, because the kids are out of school and the weather is perfect for a day at the beach, crowds tend to take over this SoCal spot, particularly from June through August. Consider visiting during September or early October when the tourists have left but the beach weather is still lingering.

    Things to Do

Take advantage of the pleasant weather and spend some time outdoors. Head to La Jolla Cove, and watch the seals and sea lions basking on the rocks, or mosey through the gardens and museums of Balboa Park. While you’re in town, take surf lessons at Pacific Beach, or spend the afternoon picnicking at Mission Bay. If you’re in the mood for some hiking, hit the coastal trails at Torrey Pines or climb Cowles Mountain for sweeping views of the city.

After soaking up all that sunshine, take some time to get know San Diego’s history and culture. Begin your adventures in the Old Town San Diego State Historic Park. Considered the birthplace of San Diego, this site is home to the city’s first courthouse and public school house, along with adobe houses and other artifacts and vintage structures. Then visit the Presidio of San Diego, which dates back to 1769, and take a tour of the William Heath Davis House in the Gaslamp Quarter. After a day of exploration, rest up at one of the top resorts in or near San Diego.

This type of lodging bundles your meals and activities into the price of the room.
