Nice hotel, slightly dated but undergoing updatePosted Nov 21, 2013
Pros: Spacious room with kitchenette, made welcome on registration in a lovely small town
Cons: Needs updating
Location: Great location for anza borrego national park with lots to see and do
Made very welcome in nice hotel with good facilities. It was being updated while we were there but it had character and we would have no hesitation in stopping there again.

Very nice place to stay.Posted Nov 11, 2013
I was only there for one night, but I will be back. I love the area and plan to visit again next month for a couple of days. The room was more than spacious, had a kitchen and small refrigerator, coffee maker, nice tv and comfortable bed. They also offer a "continental breakfast" and complimentary coffee. I sorry I don't remember the name of the kind lady in the office, because she was very nice. Thanks.

Staying the Night in Borrego SpringsPosted Oct 22, 2013
Pros: I loved the architecture, the great air conditioning and the location. The friendly staff and price are pluses, too.
Cons: It really needs some decent furniture, modern interior paint colors and a bit of general maintenance, especially in the bathroom.
Location: Borrego Springs is a desert town with excellent outdoor desert activities and a world class art exhibition gallery, the Borrego Art Institute.
The inn is really a mid-century modern motel with a lovely swimming pool, interesting architecture and disappointing decor. The furniture was elderly and beat up and although the room was serviceable and had great bones, it was a drab color and the furniture placement was odd (TV in front of the mirror) The refrigerator worked very well. The bathroom cried out for some TLC: the shower door did not close properly, the towel bar was mounted precariously, the vanity was extremely short (!) and the wall color was an awful yellow. It was a bargain for the price and the staff was nice, but there was no continental breakfast as advertised. The place has so much potential that I just want it to be better than it is.

Disappointing hotelPosted Apr 9, 2013
Hotel is old but not too run down. However beds are extremely uncomfortable, the shower stall was leaking, windows did not close well and the blinds were broken. The kitchen did not have any dish soap which is annoying. Staff was grumpy.

Good choice for this areaPosted Oct 29, 2012
In Borrego Springs you generally have to choose between very expensive lodgings where you are paying for the decor, or camping in campgrounds that are in beautiful settings but can be loud and not very private. Stanlund's is a good compromise. It's not beautiful in terms of the buildings or decor, but it is reasonably priced and you get a large fridge, a kitchenette (microwave, no actual stove) and a semi-private patio area. There is a pool, a good ice machine, and the motel is dog-friendly. I found my room clean and generally felt comfortable and safe in the surroundings. It would be a good motel for birders since the patios on the east wing look out on a wash that is full of birds.

Comfortable and cleanPosted Oct 25, 2011
Borrego Springs is such an insulated little oasis in the desert; charming. This hotel was clean and comfortable and very close to the center of town. The air conditioner worked great!

It will doPosted Oct 3, 2011
Pretty much basic. I thought the price was high for no frills but the showers were good sized, beds comfortable and TV servicwas good. What more do you need?

When I need solitude to regroup, have a good cry, or just to relax, this is the place!!!Posted Aug 23, 2011
Didn't think that "old" hotels were still being used as this one. It was a very nice experience to stay in such a hotel. The staff was so nice. The room was very clean and comfortable. Will definitely go back again. Thank you!!!

Would stay againPosted Jul 8, 2011
Nice pool, loved the little patio in the back. Feels isolated but just a 5 minute drive down the road to town. Diane at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. Will go back again.

Room Amenities need work.Posted Feb 3, 2011
The window heater/air conditioner thermostat did not function. The unit could be turned on and off but did not work automatically. The refrigerator also did not work. There was a circuit breaker in the room for the refrigerator but it kept popping out. Staff was courteous and location convenient.
