Your Review Super 8 San Diego/Sea World Area This motel is definitely a dive. We considered leaving after looking at the rooms. There was mildew in the showers, there was a cigarette burn on the toilet seat, and the toilet bowl was black in the bottom. There were fist marks in the drywall, and thick dust on the shelf. All furnishings were old, but adequate. The bedding and towels were well worn, but seemed clean. It is located next to a highly used loading dock and there were about 6 semis backing in the early morning. The ice machine was outside the office and when we asked why it didn't work they decided that someone had unplugged it. The office personnel did bring us up a bucket of ice, after it was available. We were afraid to leave our belongings in the room while we were away. The swimming pool was being resurfaced. They were refurbishing the rooms in the front and I'm sure that they would eventually get to the rear, where we were put. We called ahead to try to get our 2 rooms next to each other, and they told us to call Expedia to cancel our reservation, and they could give the rooms for much less. We didn't, because our receipts said there was no cancelation policy. The continental breakfast wasn't too bad, but the staff didn't keep the buffet filled. Had to ask for milk both days as it was empty. Juice was empty and they didn't have a key to refill the dispenser. I know this was a lower price choice, but I wasn't expecting a slum. Scariest place I have ever stayed.

Great stay at a convenient affordable location!Posted Aug 20, 2013
Pros: Bed, room cleanliness, fridge, location and price!
Cons: Maybe the front.. a bigger sign would be more helpful to locate the hotel quicker and avoid too many turns.
Location: Old town mexican restaurants, Sea World, Mission Beach and the Gaslamp district.
This hotel is conveniently located in San Diego and is very affordable! I had a great stay and I a good time in SD :) It's very close to Old Town, Sea World and few miles to Mission Beach and the Gaslamp district.. room is big, beds are very comfy and the best thing is that the rooms are super clean!

Internet made this place sound nice but was very dissapointing. Was in San Diego to help my daughter pack up for the road trip to move back East. I'm glad I actually had to spend very liitle time at the hotel. DIRTY to say the least !!!

Casual and worthwhilePosted Jul 22, 2013
I needed a hotel for Comic Con. This location was clean, the people were nice and attentive. The area is 'fine' but the proximity to Starbucks and a few other places, not to mention the 5fwy made it all worthwhile.

I did not appreciate the fact the showers are dirty, walls, doors, poor wall remodelations.

Bad choices make great storiesPosted Jun 1, 2013
Pros: There really was a bed.
Cons: Bad location
Location: In San Diego in a back alley with homeless people in the area.
This hotel was in an alley across from dumpsters and the lower level was under construction. There were several transients in the location wandering. This hotel was scary and very disappointing. The hotel clerk was not familiar with the area which was not helpful. The drainage didn't work in one of the bath tubs. The pool was empty. I highly recommend taking this hotel off your list of recommendations for future customers. My family continues to give me a hard time concerning this choice. Bad, very bad choice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DON'T STAY HERE!!!!!Posted May 7, 2013
Pros: It was next to a Starbucks
Cons: Tear it down and start over!!!
Location: Horrible location in an alley with no view. Next to Starbucks and stores.
We were highly disappointed with this less than desirable motel. The website and pictures for Super8 are very misleading. This was basically a dive!! Remodeling on the entire first floor meant lots of noise, banging sounds, and dust. The rooms were horrible! Musty smelling and dirty. We had no washcloths and when we ask they said they were out. The 'free' internet was non-existent and the basic cable only had a few stations that would come in clearly. On our second day the toilet started leaking and ran water out over the bathroom floor. All of this plus a very sketchy location in an alley. No view whatsoever and yards away from several strip clubs. The ONLY nice thing I can say... there was a Starbucks right next door!!!
