Pros: Location, and the view is wonderful.
Cons: maybe offer a free continental breakfast
Location: Shops and grocery store all close by, we mostly came for the beach.
Great location, everything within walking distance, beach is clean and wonderful. We will definitely stay at this location again.

Perfect get-away at Pacific Beach

Posted Apr 1, 2015
The hotel and location made us feel like we hit the jackpot on our spring get-away. There is no better location if you want easy access to food, surf, sand and shopping. We caught a taxi from the airport to the front door, where Laura graciously checked us into our Jr Suite. Using the VIP pass, these tired travelers were seated and served a hearty lunch at The World Famous, attached to the hotel. From there, full but fatigued, we walked across the boardwalk to lounge in the sand and enjoy the sight and sound of the surf. The return walk to our room was so short, we were amazed. (It is further to walk from our car to our kitchen, at home.) The room and the bed were quiet and comfortable. We slept well, and enjoyed breakfast at Woodys, overlooking the ocean, and less than 20 ft from the pool gate. Next to Woodys, the boardwalk boasts a shop full of beach essentials, ice cream shops, taco and burger bars, casual beach bar f or the over-21-crowd, surfing and bicycle rentals, etc. One block East is Mission Avenue, which contains every business a person could imagine. Between the Surfer Beach Hotel and Mission Ave, is the Promenade Mall, with food, breweries and shopping delights. Everything about our vacation was easy, thanks to the charming Surfer Beach Hotel location, comfort, and helpful staff.

Great place to stay in PB!

Posted Mar 31, 2015
Pros: The location, the staff, the cleanliness of our room, and the great night's sleep we enjoyed during the whole stay.
Cons: For the value, it was proper but parking was a little tight.
Location: We enjoyed the beach, nearby restaurants, and the ability to just walk right next door for an evening nightcap.
We were hesitant about selecting the hotel but were extremely pleased once we arrived and got to our rooms. Our room was on the end of the third floor and our view of the beach and sunset was outstanding. The location was a convenient walk to the restaurants we like and being right on the beach made it a great place for our grandkids to join us and play. And to our surprise, that area of the beach was very quiet at night and we rested well! For the price, we felt it was a great value that exceeded our expectations.

Great location

Posted Mar 30, 2015
Great location, friendly staff , clean rooms, just that the facilities were not very nice and seemed very dated. It's not that I wouldn't reccomend, because I would so long as you are not expecting to much as far as the appearance of the hotel. Great location!!!! We had a good time but not the nicest hotel we have stayed but was clean and adequate. I would say for the people that are a bit picky..... Stay someplace else..... But we were fine with the place because of cleanliness and friendly staff and comfortable beds and linens. We don't spend much time in room anyway

Really close to beach, beautiful views.

Posted Mar 29, 2015
While this is close to the beach and has beautiful views of the beach, there's no air conditioning (box fan provided by hotel) and just generally kinda dirty. Parking is 15$ a night. Very fraternity-like surroundings. And front doors can be accessed by anyone (i.e. some drunk dude pounding on my door at 4am). But the view is nice...

Perfect hotel close to the beach.

Posted Mar 26, 2015
Pros: Location and its proximity to the beach, the new, safe, and clean the rooms, the amenities included, and the wonderful and welcoming front desk staff.
Location: Belmont Park takes a beautiful 30 minute walk along the beach to get to but the boardwalk right along the beach has fun shops and good food.
I went on this trip with my boyfriend and we couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. We expected a basic room to sleep in with the idea that hotel's main redeeming quality was a beach right outside the door, but that along with amazing hotel staff and a wonderful room made the Surfer Beach Hotel exceptional. I would highly recommend to anyone visiting the San Diego area if you are looking for a hotel that is practically on the beach, is in a location with great restaurants and shops, is a hot spot for Ubers, Lyfts and Taxis, has clean and welcoming rooms, and has an amazing and helpful staff.

Pros: It's right on the beach
Cons: More ice machines
Location: Visit Woody's for a great breakfast.
The hotel is right on the beach. There are some really good cafe's and restaurants in the surrounding area. We wary of Spring Break students - Can get a little loud.

Great location, but lacking elsewhere

Posted Mar 18, 2015
Pros: Location. Comfortable bed.
Cons: Noise level? Shower could use more pressure.
Location: See above.
This hotel is located on the beach and is within walking distance of everything (restaurants, groceries, amusements, etc). The view from my 2nd story balcony was OK, but partially blocked by the roof of the adjacent restaurant. This hotel is extremely noisy! Oddly enough, they provide ear plugs to block the sound of the waves, but they are only needed to clock the sound of the restaurant fan, which is much louder than the ocean. There were also car alarms going off several times a day and whoever was staying in the room above me was either lifting weights or moving furniture at both 6AM and 6PM everyday. Although I may stay here as a last minute option again, I would not recommend this hotel to my friends because I know they would find it disappointing.
