Great location, small roomsPosted Mar 4, 2015
The Dana is within walking distance to SeaWorld which is very convenient. It is located right on the bay and marina with beautiful views. And it was about a 4 minute drive to the beach. Nothing in San Diego seemed difficult to visit from this hotel's location due to ease of freeway access. Even the zoo was only about 15 minutes away. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful. The palms, flowers, and lawns make it feel like you are staying in a tropical paradise. The actual hotel itself does seem a little older (except for the small new addition which has the most expensive rooms). I don't mind the age, as I thought it was well kept. We stayed in a room with a patio next to the pool. The room was small, but fuctional. The mattress wasn't great. If you have a bad back, I do not recommend staying here. We got an infant bed, and it fit in the corner of the room and was in decent condition. The bedding was average. The patio was beautifully landscaped so that it felt private. We enjoyed sitting on it with the baby monitor while our son was napping. There was a little gate to the pool from the patio which would be convenient for older kids. The staff was always very helpful and courteous. The Blue Pearl served breakfast. The entrees were large and shareable. The servers were pretty terrible, but generally polite. We only tried the soup and salad at the Firefly. It was good, but overpriced. I would suggest only eating there for convenience. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

nice and quiet but close to the actionPosted Mar 3, 2015
Pros: everything that you would expect at a nice resort was on the grounds
Cons: I really wish hotels would put all the things they charge for on their website. The Dana listed a resort fee, but failed to mention the parking charge
Location: mission beach is a vacationers mecca, whatever your pleasure...seaworld biking surfing fine dining museums historical sites, it's all there
it was a great comfortable stay. good food, near the water, nice grounds

Disappointing ComfortPosted Mar 2, 2015
Cons: Lower the rates.
Given the price we paid, we were expecting much more amenities and comfort with the facilities. The room was very cramped and felt more like a Motel 6.

Stolen items from roomPosted Mar 2, 2015
We had a $125 dollar pair of Ray Ban sunglasses stolen from our room. We know exactly where they were sitting when we left, and after we came back from a day of biking around the coast, house keeping had been there and the sunglasses and their case were gone. Everyone I talked to kept passing me off to someone else, several times to the list and found, which was pointless, they were taken. One employee told me "It's not our policy to remove things from the room, ma'am." Well, obviously it's not your policy. Another tried to tell me the sunglasses probably got wrapped up in some blankets/sheets as if it was our error- they were set no where near the bed, mind you. We spent 5 out of 6 days of our trip dealing with this. Managers/supervisors said they would call me, and never did. I had to follow up after every single interaction. Maybe they hoped I would just let it go. Overall, I would never stay here again and I wouldn't recommend it. The staff was flighty and unhelpful and the whole tone of our trip was defintely impacted. We even asked that housekeeping not service our room after the sunglasses were stolen and when we came back the 3rd day they had still been there. We loved San Diego, but will find a different place to stay next time.

Very close to everything that we wanted to doPosted Mar 2, 2015
The room and staff were great. Didn't care for the $20 a day parking fees and $17 a day resort fees. We were gone all day each day and the parking lot was nearly empty every night. But when it averaged out, it was still a great price for the room and location. We had a good stay there. We loved San Diego and can't wait to return.

Hotel close to seaworldPosted Mar 1, 2015
When we checked in, they asked if we wanted to upgrade - we did, and it was worth the $30. Great view with a balcony. The things I did not like - there was a motion light in the closet - for some reason through out the entire night it would turn on and off - which kept waking up my 1yr old son. Also, when we checked out we were charged a $14 resort fee per night - was never told about this fee prior.

Wonderful family holiday!Posted Feb 25, 2015
What a wonderful spot for a winter getaway with our toddler and his grandparents. We all stayed in the resort with side by side rooms and enjoyed much of what the Dana offered. The rooms with walk out patios were spacious to the amazing views, lovely pools and spas. We enjoyed both restaurants and they were very accommodating for child's meals, yet even better for our date night evenings out by the fire. Yummy appy's too! We will definitely consider visiting again. Location was very central and appreciated the shuttle to Seaworld!

ADA featuresPosted Feb 19, 2015
Pros: Board walks, grounds, gardens and ammenities.
Location: Near Mission Beach, Cabrillo, and Midway. Also variety of restaurants near.
We booked three rooms, one ADA compliant room for guests in town from Sonoma County. There was some confusion regarding the stay and Expedia made the corrections for us.

Quick Family WeekendPosted Feb 18, 2015
Pros: Location, food quality, the pool, the hotel grounds.
Cons: Better towels at the pool.
Location: Mission beach and Belmont Park are less than 5 minutes away, and you can walk to Sea World.
We stayed in building 21 which is a newer building on the property and the room was a great size for my wife and 2 kids. The property is very well taken care of and the food was of great quality. The location is nice as well as we were able to get to Mission beach within 5 minutes. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.
