Great hotel close to main Gas Lamp

Posted Apr 8, 2014
Pros: The design of it being a look from the late 1800s.
Cons: Nothing.
Location: It is one street over from the main drag aka Gas Lamp strip. It is almost dead center of Gas Lamp and everything is easily walkable.
This hotel was a great experience. The entire hotel is modeled after a late 1800s early 1900s decor. Just an old throwback feel with modern technology.

Nice historic hotel but extremely loud

Posted Apr 5, 2014
The hotel was beautiful and I loved the room during the day but at night the area is extremely loud because it is surrounded by bars and clubs. Our room was on the outside and was across the street from a club that blasted music until 1:30 a.m. I would stay there again but I would pay more for one of the rooms facing the inner courtyard because I could not sleep.

Thank you for your comments. We are sorry that the noise from the surrounding neighborhood affected your stay. We are happy that you will consider joining us again at the Horton Grand, and allowing us an opportunity to share with you some of our quieter rooms throughout the hotel.

Cool old feel to the place.

Very close to gas lamp and convention center. Bring earplugs if you are going to be on street side as partyers can be noisy on Fourth ave.

Thank you for your comment. We know that noise can be an issue here in the Gaslamp Quarter, and we are sorry if this caused your stay to be uncomfortable. We are working on installing double pain glass windows to help eliminate this noise that occurs on the 4th Avenue side of the hotel. We hope that you will join us again, and we continue to make things right in the hotel.

Nice hotel right on gaslamp

Posted Mar 30, 2014
This hotel is right in the middle of the gaslamp. Everything is walking distance which is very convenient so you don't have to drive or taxi. The hotel staff was friendly and when I called for extra towels they were brought to our room within minutes. Overall a great stay!

Cozy, comfortable, and clean

Posted Mar 25, 2014
Pros: The decor, the friendly staff, and the room cleanliness
Cons: n/a
Location: Many restaurants and shops within walking distance
I loved this hotel. It exceeded my expectations. I loved the Victorian decor throughout the hotel. The hotel itself as well as the room we were in were clean. My only complaint is that there was some hair from the previous guest on the hair dryer. Other than that, we had no other issues. I loved the courtyard and the bar area with live music. It's located in the Gas Lamp Quarter so there is a lot to do in the area within walking distance.

Great value!

Posted Mar 19, 2014
Cons: Needs a few more electrical outlets in the room.
This hotel is so quaint. The restoration is well done and it couldn't be more "New Orleans" in its charm and ambience. The courtyard stole my heart. Very conveniently located and rooms are quiet considering how noisy this area of town can get at night. Our bed was comfy and the pillows were wonderfully soft. We'll definitely be back!

quaint hotel in the heart of the the gaslamp qtr

Posted Feb 15, 2014
Pros: My husband and I liked that the hotel was really close to everything and was reasonable in price.
Location: The hotel is right next to Petco Park, the Gaslamp Quarter, Convention Center and a 15 min walk to Seaport Village and the USS Midway museum.
This was a quaint hotel in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter. We parked the car at the hotel and walked everywhere. It was close to all of the resturants and bars and a 5 minute walk to Petco Park.

Excellent location; tastefully blends old with new

Posted Feb 13, 2014
Pros: The first detail that stands out for me, was the original crown molding. Coupled with an updated bathroom, ceiling fan and flatscreen TV.
Cons: Nothing that the hotel could control. When staying in the city, one will HEAR the sounds of the city. Neither my husband nor I were bothered by it.
Location: Excellent location. Walking distance to many restaurants/bars and retail shops. Also, easy to navigate around other points of interests in San Diego.
We were celebrating our 15th Anniversary! Upon our arrival, John upgraded us from our reserved Queen room to a King with a fireplace, (were informed that all the rooms had fireplaces). He also gave us some historical background on the hotel -very interesting. We were pleased with the tasteful and beautiful furnishings, and comforted with today's modern conveniences.
