EXCELLENT AND RELAXINGPosted Nov 5, 2014
Pros: Centrally located and its history behind it....
Cons: Parking could be better. Limited parking to guest
Location: Lots of local friendly restaurants..Dennys, Mcdonalds walking distance from hotel
Centrally located to recreational parks like Balboa Park and SD Zoo. Less than 10min to get there. Staff was super friendly Aimee and Margarita were awesome! Thank you for the great stay.

IgnoredPosted Oct 29, 2014
Cons: Staff, continental breakfast or snacks.
Location: Not impressed sort of a bad area.
Put us off at the end of the hotel underground parking led to room. Never saw the lobby, pool, or bungalos. It would be great foe a felon. No one ever saw us.

Termites in the room.Posted Oct 26, 2014
The room had termites so we checked out 30 minutes after we checked in . We didn't feel comfortable staying there. The staff apologized but that was the extend.

First San Diego visitPosted Oct 20, 2014
As suggested by my son, it was close to them. The Hotel was a pleasant stroll into nostalgia. Built in the 40's, it attempeted to draw the celebrities to that part of town. It's history is part of the charm. The room was somewhat "spartan", but clean and comfortable. The staff was very accomodating and cordial. Over the next few years, I expect to make several trips to San Diego and will readily book another stay at the Lafayette. Thank you

Different vibePosted Oct 20, 2014
If you are looking for a different vibe in San Diego this is the place for you. We found it convienent with a classy feel however the street noise kept us up at times at night and the bunk bed was very uncomfortable. We were sad the photos made it look like we would have a balcony and face the pool but instead we faced the street. Also the bathrooms were very small to get ready in, there was a charge to park and to use the fridge, also no elevators.

DisappointingPosted Oct 15, 2014
Cons: extreme renovation needed
The room smelled humid, and was extremely stuffy. I had the room facing street, horrible. Noises galore! This hotel needs extreme renovation. Carpet, old and feels humid, sheets smell like they were dipped in Clorox. I will never stay in this hotel and I do not recommend it.

Unfortunately I was only there for a short time. The staff checking in was very nice and helpful. The bed was comfortable and the room quiet.

Not too badPosted Oct 6, 2014
Make sure you get a poolside room. Those are nice. Just for the experience. The rest of the rooms are nothing special really. The smell of Old and cleaning detergents is pretty intense. The hotel is pretty old but I guess that's allure of it. I guess it was just not what we were looking for. The staff was amazing.
