Great Place

Posted Apr 7, 2014
Pros: Everything. Staff was terrific. Views were awesome. Food was great.
Cons: I wouldn't change a thing!
Location: If you golf you just have to bring clubs and play there. The beach just north of the property is also very cool to relax at.
We had a room overlooking the golf course and the view from the patio were simply stunning. I could find no fault with this hotel whatsoever. It will be added to one of my "must stay" places to travel.

A great getaway!

Beautiful, clean, relaxing! The only downside is there are no other restaurants within walking distance, but they have car service that will take you any where within five miles, and they were always available when we needed it. Very nice place to stay.

Well-designed, well managed, oceanside golf resort

Posted Mar 31, 2014
Pros: The attention to detail in every area. The A.R. Valentien restaurant in the resort is excellent.
Cons: The food in the grill, especially breakfast, did not meet the best standards of the resort.
Location: Torrey Pines State Park is a short walk north of the resort, and well worth exploring several times.
Excellent, attentive staff. Carefully designed and maintained rooms and premises. Well prepared food and drinks. Comfortable, quiet, golf-focused atmosphere.

Above expectations

Posted Mar 17, 2014
Pros: Nice grounds, nice rooms, nice views of the Golf Course
Cons: 30.00 per day Valet fees a little ridiculous.
Location: Downtown La Jolla really cool place.
Friendly staff. Accomodations were above expectations. Hotel is a little dark but I guess that's the feel they were trying to achieve. Overall a good experience, I would recommend getting a room with the Pacific Ocean view. We aver looked a courtyard nothing really to see. If you like a quiet stay this is the place for you. Not a place for kids however we did see some families.

Golf hotel

Posted Mar 16, 2014
Cons: Bed
Location: Torrey pines state park and La Jolla
Beautiful golf course. The hotel is great for that, but not luxury level. Beds were too soft; my husband slid off his side. Internet was tricky to sign in to, without incurring costs. Three is also no direct access to the coast, as it was a very long and steep walk. Lovely views and fairly nice food. The experience was pleasant. PS. Complimentary car service into town, although they don't advertise it.

Not a welcome feeling at the Lodge

Posted Feb 18, 2014
Pros: Positive remarks: The location was fantastic!! The golf course stunning and in great shape. The State Park trail access was wonderful.
Cons: Need to learn Customer Service in a big way.
Location: La Jolla Del Mar San Diego .. There is so much to do.
The hotel staff was chintzy. The staff only helps you when asked and only after they confirm that you are staying there. Check in did not provide enough information to orientate us and check out did not really care if we were satisfied. I concluded that they must have so many people coming into the hotel that are not staying there because the golf course is public. I asked for water and was told to go outside to the Valet who got it from a back room after asking if I was a guest of the hotel and if I was taking a walk. The room was not cleaned up daily until late afternoon. The bath supplies were limited...only one bar of soap for three nights. The hotel is beautiful but quite dark. The natural garden in the middle makes it even darker.

Great Hotel adjacent to a State Reserve

Posted Jan 6, 2014 on Hotels.com
I loved The Lodge. I booked this trip last minute for the purpose of 3 days of hiking in the Torrey Pines Reserve. The hotel is connected to the Reserve, so it is an easy walk to the trail heads. I ate dinner at the hotel bar and had the best swordfish I've ever eaten. I also had breakfast and lunch at the little grill by the golf course. That was great too. I could have ordered my food out to the pool as well. They are very accommodating. The hair dryer in the room had very little power, but I was welcomed to use the spa to dry my hair and it is very nice there. The bed is so comfortable and i received wonderful turn-down service each evening. I used the gym and found it to be well equipped, although a bit drab in decor. There are TV's on each cardio machine. Don't miss hiking the trails in the Reserve. They offer the most spectacular views. By following the main path by the road all the way down to the beach and then weaving in and out of all the trails on the way back, I was able to cover 9 hilly miles.
