Looked bigger onlinePosted Aug 13, 2014
The room was smaller than pictured online. Two of us stayed in a king. There was no room to walk on one side of the bed. The bed was on a wood platform that I was scared that I would trip over. The carpet was like office carpet . That was fine, but walking on it barefoot felt sticky. The bathroom had no counter space. And the floor grout was dirty. I was excited to stay here because it looked cool when I heard of events here, and the restaurant; but the hotel stay was disappointing. I like the idea the hotel had for the design, but the execution was not excellent. This was room #8 on the 1st floor, next to the parking and trash; without a balcony.

Cute renovated motel in San Diego suburbPosted Jul 30, 2014
Pros: The bar/restaurant, the casual atmosphere, and cute decor.
Cons: Our shower was a little leaky but I wouldn't have complained. It's an old facility but I wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
Location: We went to la jolla beach for the day which is about 20 minutes away and then did a little bar hopping in little Italy which is 5-10 minutes away.
The hotel was really welcoming, not like one of those big economy/business hotels like the one we were going to check into nearby for $50 more. It was exactly what we needed: a quiet, clean room to stay the night after a day at the beach and dinner in Little Italy, which was a $10 uber ride away. It also had perks like an adorable bar and restaurant and a film projector with a screen right over the pool.

Great, lively place!Posted Jul 29, 2014
My 10 year old and I went to San Diego for Comic-Con 2014. Booked a room at The Pearl for a couple nights on a whim, and we were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. The staff was excellent, the decor and vibe of the place were awesome. Restaurant menu was full of delicious options. And it turns out, it is quite a popular place with the local night life crowd. Overall, very kid-friendly. The saltwater pool was a lot of fun and I could barely keep my kid out of it to go do other activities around town. They periodically play movies on a big screen overlooking the pool, and on our first night there we enjoyed dinner poolside while watching The Empire Strikes Back. Couldn't get any better than that. Highly recommended.

Close to marina. Great dining nearby.Posted Jul 14, 2014
Pros: Very clean, quirky, lovely little touches of clever fen shue. Friendly staff, lovely cold beer!
Location: Marina, sailing, Red Sails restaurant close by for all meals.
Pity we weren't advised that the day of check in was movie night, and that all the restaurant tables were booked. Otherwise a lovely quirky clean hotel. Thank you

Golden nugget of JOY!Posted Jul 11, 2014
If you're looking for an intimate, funky, relaxed place to stay then this is it!!! You feel so welcome the minute you walk in, the decor, the vibe, the entire place is just beyond awesome. We LOVED IT! It's retro and hip without trying too hard, the food is superb and I would recommend in a heart beat. The only thing I would FYI is there isn't really parking onsite, but you can park on the streets around it for free no problems!

Great Hotel BarPosted Jun 22, 2014 on Hotels.com
Nice bar and pool area with a great happy hour. Unfortunately the pool is not heated. After a full day in town my wife and I would enjoy their drink specials & the "Dive-In Movie" on Wed night. The service at the bar & restaurant was very good. I wish the same could be said about our room. When we checked in our sheets were dirty & the room did not look as up kept as the lobby & bar area. Parking was $10 a night for limited spaces or free if you park in the surrounding neighborhood on the residential streets. Overall my wife & I enjoyed our visit but will probably not be staying again. The hotel is within walking distance to Point Loma Seafoods, a San Diego institution for fresh seafood and a must.

We loved The Pearl!Posted Jun 11, 2014 on Hotels.com
Loved everything about this super cute boutique hotel. Friendly staff, quirky decor, and clean, minimal rooms (with pet beta fish for fun!). We arrived in time to catch the last 45 minutes of Sunday swim up brunch, where we made fast friends with the bar staff and some other hotel guests. Definitely plan on returning and staying the whole weekend to catch the entire brunch and check out the restaurant (closed on Sunday).
