“Loved it and will certainly return!”

Upon arriving shortly after Noon, we were able to immediately check in without waiting. Our room was fantastic, with an excellent view of Downtown San Diego. The room was clean and bright, and it had all the amenities I look for in a room (wi-fi, iPod radio, refrigerator, plenty of towels, etc.). Moreover, it is located just outside of the Gaslamp district, and is thus very quiet, but it is still close enough to walk to anywhere in the area. The staff was very friendly and accommodating too. Overall, we both greatly enjoyed the hotel and look forward to a return.

“Sophia: a downtown San Diego gem.”

The Sophia is a gem of a hotel. The rooms are smallish in a European style but they are well appointed and maintained. The front staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The hotel is a short walk to gaslamp district and two blocks to trolley. A city bus goes to the airport.

“Great location!”

The hotel is in a great location and the staff are wonderful. The room was small, but for one or two people, it was fine. It had more character than the big chain hotels.

“CONVENIENT!”

I came for Memorial Weekend with my husband and toddler. I called a couple weeks back and asked about early check in. As promised, they accommodated us with our room right away. The staff is very prompt and prepared to answer any questions. Beautiful scenery. Very convenient to local bars and restaurants. Ipod dock on radio was cool. Accessible outlets to charge phones and plug in hair styling tools. Shower warmed up real quick so no water was wasted. View wasn't great but the bed is COMFORTABLE! Whoo! TWO THUMBS UP overall

“Charming but not for big family”

Cute hotel. Rooms are not suitable for big family but we made it work by getting 3 rooms adjacent to each other. Resort fee was lower than other hotels in area and valet parking was convenient and a few dollars less than other hotels. We got one room that did not have city view which made the room dark but we were barely in our rooms during our stay in San Diego so it was okay. Staff was friendly.

“Great place to stay in San Diego”

Very nice hotel and friendly stuff. We booked a room with only one double bed. But since they have empty room there. We got free upgrade and got a room with two double bed without additional charge. Great experience!

“Great hotel, great location”

The location of this hotel is great. As I pulled up I was greeted by a very friendly valet gentleman and later a very nice lady at the counter who checked me in. The room was very cute and spacious. Later that night my friends and I noticed a condom wrapper on the floor next to the bed. That didn't bother me, but when we told the gentleman working at the front desk about it he was quite lackadaisical and didn't want to help us. Later he did come up to our room and removed the wrapper (and looked unhappy to do so) after we called the front desk asking for someone to please come and take it away. The next morning I checked out at the counter and was helped by another very nice lady. Aside from that one employee's attitude, this hotel is great!
