Lovely older hotel, nicely remodeled, great staff

Posted Mar 2, 2015
Smaller rooms but nicely appointed and updated; the room I had was great for me as a single, but would have been small for two people (I don't know if they have larger rooms). Well laid out, and recently updated and done very well. Great service from all staff. Central and convenient location. I appreciated being able to take a city bus to and from the airport; bus stop within 100 feet. More personal than the large chain hotels. I'd definitely stay here again.

Nice hotel just on the outskirts of Gaslamp

Posted Mar 2, 2015
Nice hotel. Friendly staff. Clean rooms and bathrooms were nice. You can tell this hotel was remodeled and has prob been around many years. Small elevators. Smaller rooms and bathrooms. Everything was clean but our room had a nice visible layer of dust on the phones and counters. Not a huge deal, just looked like it hadn't been rented in a while. Biggest negative to me was the $9 they charge everyone mandatory for wifi and some other service I didn't need or use on my overnight stay. It's not an option. ALSO... $34 minimum price to self park in their lot, more to valet. I arrived in town at 8:30pm, checked out at 9am. Hotel $172 (best price I found was with Expedia, double beds, Friday Night), $34 Parking, $9 wifi charge // $215 was probably not worth it unless you take advantage of the amenities, free weekday Yoga classes they offer, or other services. I may consider the Omni next time for a similar price. Bigger rooms etc. Same distance from center of Gaslamp. Besides price, the hotel is pleasant. Comfortable beds. Rooms stay close to pitch black with blinds closed in the morning. That was a plus.

Not terrible, but not staying there again

Posted Mar 1, 2015
Our room was very small and if any of the furniture was moved at all, you could find reminants of other guests' stays in the room (gross). Also, the beds/pillows were not very comfortable for anyone in our group. What was most displeasing was the not clearly advertised $34/night valet fee (because they do not have parking). That was an unplanned expense. The staff, however, was wonderful! The hotel and rooms are moreso suited for out-of-town business clientel vs any other type of traveler.

Great centrally located hotel.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean and comfortable hotel. Hotel restaurant/bar offered great menu items. Happy hour specials daily. This hotel was close to everything. You can walk to the Gas Lamp Quarter and Little Italy and also have quick access to I-5. The only negative was the $34/day valet parking fee. All around it was a great experience and it was a perfect location. I will stay here again without question.

Great location

Loved staying in this historic hotel. Well renovated rooms, excellent hotel restaurant, nice amenities such as free yoga, happy hour and walking tour. And walking distance to so much; the water area, shopping, etc. The bed and pillows were a bit lumpy And the lobby was a bit dark. Otherwise, a great place in a great area.

Pros: Convenient downtown location, nice lobby, attractive room decor
Cons: Find cabs quicker. Invest in staff staying at a Sheraton, where the staff goes beyond what is required to help. Get better pillows
Location: Middle of downtown; close to lots of restaurants, shopping and harbor.
Convenient downtown location, nice lobby, staff ok, though took 5 min to find a cab on a busy corner. Rooms very small, but attractive.

Great location

Posted Feb 19, 2015
Pros: decor, historic, centrally located
Cons: Parking is very expensive, vallet is $35 per night.
Location: great sushi place across the street, panera bread 1 block , coffee bean downstairs, really everything you would want a 1-2 blocks away by foot.
We have stayed in SD before, mostly by the water, but this time we wanted to stay somewhere else. This hotel is only a 10 min walk from the water seaport village, gaslamp, and the midway. It is a very nice building and historic. The rooms were really nice and comfy.
