Modern hotel - on the beachPosted Jan 15, 2015
Arrived early after a long flight. Waited in restaurant. Great meal. Able to relax outside on the boardwalk and plan our stay. Checked into a wonderful room with balcony. Watched surfers and San Diego night life. While enjoying our welcoming Rum punch drink.

Young urban vibe in great locationPosted Dec 15, 2014
Fabulous location and very friendly staff. Partial ocean view rooms have no ocean view unless you stand at the window and crane your neck so be warned. Loud during cocktail hour but peaceful at night.

Best location with amazing brunchPosted Dec 10, 2014
No better place to stay. Rooms are spacious, clean, and super convenient for beach and partying. Can't wait to return. Best value I can remember at any hotel.

Birthday for my son.Posted Nov 19, 2014
Pros: Location on the beach, right on the boardwalk..Close to town in Pacfic Beach.. shops..restaurants
Cons: The entrance to the restaurant and return to your rooms is always locked..They need to have a hotel room key admittance box to access your rooms.
Location: Location..great..Mission Beach, Belmont Park...Dana Point real close Bike riding and Segway available. On the beach.
I would give a perfect score except...we got locked out of our room at 1:45am in the morning..due to paper work that I signed upon check in. This room was paid in full way in advance. So no matter what we should of not been locked out period. They even had my credit card for purchases in the hotel in which they managed to use. After talking with a manager of course the same song and dance sorry we will make a note so this don't happen again. We will compensate your room..No they did NOT.

Intimate hotel close to PBPosted Nov 2, 2014
This hotel is very clean and modern. The cleaning crew does an excellent job tending to your room. The food at JRDN was a bit pricey but unique and tasty. Brunch was a home run. The only thing I would change would be to remove the sliding doors in the bathrooms and place with regular doors. The doors are loud when they slide. Otherwise I would definitely stay here again.

Loved itPosted Oct 26, 2014 on Hotels.com
We stayed 4 nights and we were not disappointed. I made the booking because I wanted up to stay closer to La Jolla to visit where my parents used to live and work and where I lived as a baby. The whole experience had "wow" factor from the outset. The statement above the entrance to the hotel, your room is ready, the friendly staff, the courtesy phone call to check we were happy. We stayed in 305 "surf pad" , walking into the room had such a great impact, rolling waves right outside, uninterrupted views of the ocean and palms, beautiful fittings and colours, the layout was reminiscent of The Opposite House in Beijing, luxurious robes with a silky egg blue outer layer and good quality toiletries. The bed was very comfortable (there were two beds in the room, but we only used one). I am fussy when it comes to pillows and these were feather down and super comfortable. We ate every breakfast at the hotel and I particularly enjoyed the veggie scramble. We ate two dinners at JRDN restaurant and were impressed by the quality and freshness of the ingredients and excellent service. If you like the beach and a bit of luxury this is the hotel for you. Highly recommended.

Nice hotel, but getting worn. Dirty rundown neighborhood. Expensive for what it is. Restaurant mixed - dinner good, breakfast terrible and rude server too.

very close to everything. Cannot beat the location and the hotel has a great set up for outdoor cocktails. Rooms are spacious and clean. I'd stay here again for a girls weekend or a romantic trip. My only negative is that the front desk called up to our room after we'd been in there for about an hour to check in. I was napping since this was a get away from our kid. ruined my relaxing nap and i was up for good after the interruption. Unplug the phone once you check in if you want to relax.

Excellent hotel and service. Had minor issue with damp carpeting on 3 rd floor hallway, where they had industrial blowers going to dry it out. Deck on 2nd floor was outstanding place to watch the sunset. Food was outstanding and portions were huge.
