Pros: Great service.
Cons: Replace the carpeting and curtains. Add a coffee pot for tea in the rooms.
Location: Few miles from airport. Walking distance to restaurants, sites, and yoga.
The W Hotel in San Diego seems to target a younger clientele. The front desk staff are very helpful, genuine, and kind, especially Abe. Valet/doormen also great and on the ball. My room was comfortable, spacious, and clean. The carpet looks very tired as did the curtains. Overall a wonderful experience.

Great location Downtown!Posted Jul 8, 2014
Pros: We have stayed at other W hotels and this one might be our favorite. The 2nd floor amenities and quieter background music are nice.
Location: The hotel is in the heart of San Diego's downtown - near the ballpark, zoo, shopping and the airport.
In town to catch a ballgame, The W was the perfect choice. It is within walking distance of Petco Park (about 20 minutes) and an easy drive to Seaport Village. The room is clean and well appointed with many choices from the "honor bar." The staff is friendly and efficient and the lounge downstairs has a good selection of food and beverages. Coffee service in the morning, but no complimentary breakfast. Valet parking rates are steep but well worth the price for the convenience.

The moment my cab pulled up to the curb, the valet staff had my door open, my bags out, and smiles on their faces. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The hotel was beautiful, trendy, and had an open atmosphere.

Elegant hotelPosted Jul 2, 2014
A gorgeous hotel however a little disappointed with a couple of aspects, namely the concierge not being at the desk for the majority of our stay. The pool was also small with minimal amount of sunbeds. Good gym facilities and room was clean however there was some wear and tear in the bathroom. The size of the room didn't justify the amount we paid for it. Regarding location, there was nothing immediately close to the hotel and felt more like a business hotel rather than a vacation hotel. Housekeeping services and valet staff were excellent and all extremely friendly.

Disinterested staffPosted Jun 29, 2014
Pros: The lobby bar -"Living Room" was very nice with great cocktails and ambiance.
Cons: Staff has a "could care less" attitude. They don't make a guest feel welcome as other Starwood Hotels in San Diego do.
Location: The location is ok but a bit away from the Convention Center and activities. Major construction project has just started on the East side of hotel
I've stayed in a number of W Hotels around the world and have to say the staff here was the least responsive of any I've seen. I was quite surprised and disappointed. Being SPG was meaningless and I was given a room that was so noisy I had to request a change which I was very grudgingly given. The halls and rooms were tired and definitely in need of some TLC. The facilities and bar in the lobby were great. There is also a major construction site next door which is problematic after 7 am on weekdays. In sum, the staff could take some friendly lessons and at least pretend to be attentive (Surprising as San Diego is such a friendly and hospitable place.).

Great hotelPosted Jun 26, 2014
Great experience except ONE thing... The AC strangely wouldn't cool off entire room, only part of it! Besides that, great valet, great staff, great hotel!

Expected MorePosted Jun 23, 2014
Expected for out of the W. Pool and gym were small and not what i would expect from a W hotel. In addition, around 11:30PM we had to call down to the front desk to get security to address multiple loud/partying rooms. They did address the situation within the half hour so that was good.

The W Offers a Retreat of Style & LuxuryPosted Jun 18, 2014
Pros: I loved the luxurious lobby for business or pleasure, fitness options, & relaxing away the day on the rooftop, hot and sexy by day and night.
Cons: I was told the rooms are being remodeled.. which sounds like the perfect excuse to return next year.
Location: Four blocks from charming Little Italy, close to the water & USS Midway, & several blocks from the hub of downtown & Gaslamp but without all the noise
