Nice hotel, close to gaslamp, transit and airport

Posted Sep 20, 2014
This is a nice hotel. Check in was smooth and easy. Hotel staff is readily available and were always able to help with questions / directions. Room is clean and comfortable. Lobby has fun decor and roof top bar area was one of my favorite features. Short walk to both gaslamp and transit. Overall, our stay was nice and I would recommend however, I will echo one of the other guest comments - this place is trying way too hard! The trendiness, or what someone is a board room thought was trendy, is just too much! ;)

Home Body

Pros: The view was amazing and everyone was incredibly friendly. The Valet service was the best I've ever used.
Location: I absolutely loved the short walk to the Gas Lamp District. Shameless Name Drop - Dublin Square Irish Pub was phenominal, I fell in love.
I'm pretty much a Home Body, I have lived Southern California for 7 years and haven't been anywhere. Day trips just take too much out of me that I feel I can't enjoy myself. My stay at The W was amazing. I felt very comfortable in my room and the staff was very pleasant.

The accommodation was nice enough, but.......

Pros: New carpet.
Cons: Staff honesty and attention to clients.
Location: Great location.
I arrived for my two day stay late afternoon on the first day. It took a couple of minutes to be booked in and my bags to be taken to my room. The room was nice enough an had new carpet and paint. Everything I put on the counter stuck to it. I am not sure whether this was the new paint or the effect of cleaning products. Renovations in a Hotel are not ever enjoyable and lifts were limited at times and extension cords etc to be forgiven. What was disturbing was I left a case of earrings in my room. I don't remember exactly where (I was asked) but when I phoned the day after I checked out I wa told nothing had been handed in and that was that. Later that day after reconfirming they definitely were missing I ph'd security to be told they would look into it and phone me back. No calls forthcoming and I had to phone everyday. Everyday I spoke a different person. No structure and it ended up being extremely unsatisfactory. This was a case that held all my earrings Gold, Diamond and pearl. Unmistakable. When I went to check out I was ignored for a few minutes and had to ask for help. Not happy.

Great Hotel, first time stay at W

Posted Aug 30, 2014
Pros: staff were courteous, helpful after a long day of travel
Cons: short stay so too little time to real say something was out of the ordinary.
impressed will try other W hotels. I was travelling with 2 children 8 & 9 and the staff made sure our stay was going to be good even though it was a short stay.

Great Location!

Only small problem was construction noise all day long because of the building they are building next door. But the price was great and everything else was perfect! Kelvin was expensive but best eggs benedict!!! :)

Good experience. Would come back and recommend to others. Select parking option and save. They charge $39 for valet.

Major noisy construction site adjacent to W Hotel

Posted Aug 16, 2014
Short staffed at front desk. Line was always 5 or 6 deep to check in, store bags, check out or even speak to a front desk person. Major construction site on one side of hotel with noise starting before 7 am on a Saturday morning. No way to sleep through noise of heavy machinery and banging. Partying and music beat in hallways until early morning hours.

nice hotel quiet, takes animals

Posted Aug 15, 2014
Pros: it was walking distance to most places
Cons: the rooms could be cleaner, Luckily for me they were not! I dropped a diamond stud on the floor the first day we stayed and found it 4 days later
Location: close to Little Italy, the Gaslamp quarter, a nice walk to Balboa Park, lots of museums, lots of bars. few good restaurants, very little good shops.
although from the lobby one could tell it was busy, there was no room to room noise.

Great location

Location: Really close to the waterfront and Gaslamp district.
We went for a girls trip and this was a fabulous experience! Excellent hotel, staff was friendly and helpful. Had a missing item in our room the first night and they replaced it within a half hour PLUS left a complimentary bottle of wine ready and chilled for us the next night. Great customer service. The rooftop terrace is definitely worth going for.
