Not bad, but could be better

The quick highlights are the location, lobby, and the bed. The lowlights are the room size, shower, and staff.

Great Hotel

Posted Apr 12, 2014
My wife and I checked in early and were looking for a place to have lunch and watch the Masters golf tournament. David at the front desk was very helpful and recommended Barleymash in the Gas lamp District, a great bar with amazing food. We had appetizers at the roof bar at W and a cocktail for dinner. The bartender made an awesome Mojito and the food was delicious. The ambience on that patio level was elegant and beautiful. We will definitely be staying here again. Two thumbs up!!

Nice hotel, Downtown

Posted Apr 4, 2014
Pros: Location and cleanliness.
Cons: Suggest nearby (next street corner) affordable overnight parking for car (with in and out privilege for $15.), instead of pushing valet parking at $37
Location: Downtown, near Gaslamp Quarter, Convention Center & Little Italy.
Nice Hotel, close to Gaslamp Quarter, Convention Center & Little Italy. Very spacious room, well maintained. Helpful staff. Beautifully decorated.

Always wanted to try W Hotel

Posted Mar 9, 2014
Always wanted to try this hotel chain but was disappointed in this location :(. The lobby and amenities were lovely, but the room was very underwhelming. Cracked sink in bathroom, carpets throughout stained, bathroom shower flow bad. Didn't feel it was worth what we paid and the location was way off the beaten path for fun in San Diego. I could have visited the rooftop patio and bar for a cocktail instead of staying. I guess we've tried W Hotels and now we're done. Too bad

Disappointed.

Dirty stained carpet, did not feel like getting out of bed to walk on it. Staff was friendly. Deserted hotel in a bad neighborhood.

Good for younger "hipsters"

Posted Feb 24, 2014
Pros: valet parking well done, bar in lobby was superb, got the best recommendation for sushi up 5th ave @ Hane Sushi
Cons: lighting in common areas is very dark. access to roof bar is awkward. hard to read menus ad labels as print is small and pale.
Location: location good for walking to Little Italy or Embarcadero. Do not walk eastward as you find the city jail and lots of homeless in the area.
Staff was very attentive and took care of an elevator access key issue. They also delivered a complementary bucket of champagne to the room. However, we did not see it as we came in late from a concert and did not turn on enough light in the room. The next morning ice/condensation caused a huge puddle on the cabinet top and damaged a box of See's candy I had placed there earlier. We don't drink champagne so left it in the room…Called for a cardboard box for the wet chocolates to take them back home 100 miles away. The hotel did not appeal to us.

Hi there, I hope you enjoyed your concert and found your stay relaxing. It's too bad you weren't able to enjoy the champagne. The bucket does create condensation if the ice is left to melt. I'm glad we could save your chocolate though. On your next stay, take a trip to Rooftop Bar. The atmosphere and cocktails are enough to make your stay a while. Best, Michael

Fun, trendy hotel with helpful staff.

Posted Feb 20, 2014
Pros: Neat atmosphere, great staff, comfy beds
Cons: Add a hot tub and have the doors close a little softer so others' aren't banging their doors in early am
Location: gaslamp, trolley, great restaurants, few blocks to the harbour
Great staff, really cool atmosphere, comfy beds. Close to many amenities, restaurants and trolley. I was a little disappointed that there was no hot tub with the pool/fit centre. The hotel isn't the quietest...doors bang really loud and aren't' terribly sound proof but all and all a great stay and I would definitely stay again.

Hello! Thank you for the compliments! Our location is ideal for those looking to get out an explore. In just a short walk, you are in Little Italy. The amazing restaurants, cute shops and coffee shops are worth a visit. If you're looking for some nightlife, head over to Gaslamp Quarter. If you are looking to unwind, take a seat next to the fire at our Rooftop Bar. The cocktails and service is excellent. We look forward to welcoming you back. Best, Michael
