Good for a night away!

Posted Feb 21, 2014
Pros: Good location near trolleys. Friendly staff. Beautiful lobby and spacious rooms.
My daughter and I enjoyed staying here for a night away. Close enough to walk to Gaslamp and right on the trolley route!

Not American Hotel

Posted Feb 18, 2014
Pros: There was unique shape of bath tub with sufficient hot water.
Cons: Quality of complimentary coffee in the room. It was like other American Hotel.
This hotel was more than we expected. We should have stayed more. Premier room was equipped with elegant furniture and latest device such TV, DVD player and WiFi. Good view from the room.

Was hoping for more........

Posted Feb 18, 2014
Pros: The food provided by room service was EXCELLENT! It was almost worth the money we paid for the entire weekend it was that good.
Cons: See what I wrote about my experience. Oh and an update on the room decor would be highly recommended. DOUBLE PANE WINDOWS PLEASE!!!
Location: It's downtown San Diego......there are all kinds of things to do and it's almost all within walking distance.
Upon arrival, was told that valet parking is the only available parking for the hotel. There is our first incidental charge. It can get pricey very quickly. The refrigerator was not working despite being plugged in. Since we were already being charged for parking, we didn't want to risk calling the concierge about our refrigerator because we didn't want another "incidental charge" on our credit card. The room was small and quite frankly, for what they charge, we could have stayed at the Holiday Inn, for much, much less and gotten a bigger room, with the same amenities and their refrigerator would have worked. Let's not forget the sirens at all hours of the night (can I recommend DOUBLE PANE WINDOWS), and screaming homeless people in the middle of the night as well. When we checked out, we called for a porter to come get our luggage and pull our vehicle around and it took over 45 minutes before we went down to the lobby and got a luggage cart ourselves. Was very disappointed in the overall experience. Will probably not be going back (at least not to stay overnight).

Great downtown location!

Posted Feb 16, 2014
Pros: Interesting interior decor.
Cons: Doorman should be there, at least until midnight?
Location: Close to great restaurants, the convention center, nearby shopping and the ferry!
Arrived late evening (10pm) with two travel bags, the doorman "just left" ~ little difficult to open the heavy front hotel doors. Slightly strange to see HUGE trash dumpsters near the front entrance of the hotel, during the early morning hours. Nice staff, "French" inspired rooms, great downtown location!

One of the best hotels I have stayed

Posted Feb 9, 2014
Pros: Everything - would stay there again and again. Also location is good.
Cons: The only drawback is "finding" the parking lot - I circled the hotel a couple times before finding the entrance. There needs to be some type of sign
Location: I stayed for business (needed to be at the Convention Center in San Diego) so it was very close to where I needed to be.
Beautiful lobby. All hotel staff were very attentive. I was walked to my room and once settled they delivered sparkling lemonade with chocolate covered strawberries. Everything in the room was perfect - clean with plenty of space. Great view. Liked the extra security (It was a set of two doors). Real key instead of hotel credit card key which is nice. The housekeeping department was excellent - they come right away. Valet parking was great - no delay. Room service selection was wonderful, gourmet - they have this great mixed seafood soup on the menu which was excellent. The food served is presented well (smoked salmon arranged in the shape of a rose). They have a nightly turn down where they bring chocolate pieces at night. The water pitcher is full of ice when you arrive then is refilled for you at night (this is one of the minor issues in most hotels - having to find the ice in the hall then filling up the water pitcher. They do this for you).

Elegant hotel with very pleasant staff

Posted Feb 6, 2014
Pros: The bathroom was large and easy to share, unlike most hotel bathrooms. Plenty of counter space, floor space and a pleasant shower/bath combination.
Location: Central downtown location, easy walking to Gaslamp District, and waterfront.
We chose the Westgate because it was very close to the opera performance we went to. It is so pleasant to leave an evening performance and walk a block to your bed! No long drive home! The hotel is also very close to Horton Plaza and other downtown San Diego sites. The hotel looks like a modern high-rise but when you walk through the door you feel as if you've stepped into an elegant, meticulously maintained hotel in Europe. Our room was very large and had a pleasant city view for a very reasonable price. We had a fabulous breakfast in the restaurant the next morning.

Beautiful Hotel in Gaslamp district

Posted Feb 2, 2014
Pros: The rooms and the lobby were beautiful.
Cons: More soundproofing.
Hotel was beautiful and close to restaurants and the shopping center in the gaslamp district. Also walking distance from the train station. Only problem was a loud man that yelled outside the hotel all night.

A great hotel... Wonderful place to stay if you want a break from the baseball cap, cell phone , flip flop, loud, rude t shirt folks. Elegant and sophisticated with beautiful rooms and attentive polite employees. Terrific food and beverages.
