The front desk staff should go back to school.

Posted Mar 30, 2015
Pros: Location is convenient. Rooms and facilities are nice and clean.
Cons: Aside from the front desk staff who should all go back to school, the restaurant can do a better job as well. How can you ruin even a bagel?
I booked two rooms for my staff members because they had business in San Diego and needed hotel rooms for one night. I booked 2 rooms for one night. It turned out their business required another night's stay. So early in the morning on the check out day, I called the front desk and requested that the hotel extend their stay by one more night. The front desk person said there were rooms available but I had to pay the regular price of $490 a night. I said I saw on my computer screen, as we speak, that the $249 rate was still available on Expedia. The staff member said she could not give me that rate. While we were talking on the phone, I already finished booking 2 rooms on Expedia and the front desk person got the Expedia confirmation and then confirmed that my staff members could stay an extra night. I asked to make sure they didn't have to check out of their rooms and then check in to another room, and I was assured that they could keep the same rooms and everything was taken care of. Well, when my staff members returned to the hotel around 5 p.m. they were locked out of their rooms and the front desk person who was there at the time had no information of my prior transactions. I asked her to check and she put me on hold for 10 minutes and then disconnected me. I called back and was told the problem was solved but I know that's not true because my staff member was calling me on my cell saying they were still locked out. The problem was solved after multiple calls

Sehr nobles Hotel im Zentrum San Diegos

Posted Mar 27, 2015

Very friendly and helpful staff. I didn't eat at the hotel but that's only because of the many nearby offerings. Nice place!

Classy Hotel... in the 80's

Posted Feb 24, 2015
Pros: The rooftop pool and exercise area were definitely the highlight of the hotel. In fact, it would bring me back during the summer.
Location: Excellent location near Horton Plaza, Retail Shopping, Gas Lamp Quarter and PLENTY to eat/drink. Great nightlife in Gas Lamp. Excellent tours as well.
I am perplexed about this review. This hotel has many amenities, a great staff and was very clean. The Decor was not at all to our liking, but I know that's just my opinion and it may suit others very well. It was very European and was dated. Furthermore, the entire hotel (rooms/lobby/etc.) smelled like an old museum. After we opened up the window and aired out the room, it was very pleasant. It seems like they could install a system to help generate a fresh smell throughout the hotel (?).

Pros: Elegant Style.
Cons: Water pressure in bathroom.
Location: The location was great, the Westgate Hotel was one 1/2 block from the event I was attending.
The room was very nice, and the staff was GREAT ! I had a great view from the 18th floor.

Noisy!

Posted Feb 18, 2015
Pros: Beautiful hotel inside and out. Very nice pool and outdoor lounge area. Very close proximity to the court houses and city administration building.
Cons: Launder the top bed cover after each guest or replace them with coverlets that can be washed. Ours had a reddish stain.
Location: Shopping at Horton Plaza, 25 minute walk to Seaport Village, catch the trolley to Old Town or Tijuana. 10 minute walk to the Gaslamp District.
Located in downtown San Diego right next to the trolley line with a stop right outside the hotel and within walking distance of Horton Plaza and Seaport Village. The hotel is beautiful and the amenities are quite nice. Unfortunately, there is a large population of homeless people sleeping in very close proximity to the hotel. Both the trolley horns, police sirens and shouting made noise an issue for us.
