Great hotel in downtown San Diego

Posted Aug 2, 2015
Pros: Very comfortable, convenient, and reasonably priced.
Cons: Needs less costly parking and a restaurant for a nice breakfast. Suggest towel racks in bathrooms so we can hang up towels that don't need laundering
Very comfortable, convenient, and reasonably priced. Nice view of the waterfront. Would have been nice to have a restaurant on-site other than the snack bar, but we didn't eat many meals there anyway. The only concern was the high cost of valet parking.

Nice hotel. Friendly staff. Nice location.

Did road trip across the country. With only 1 1/2 days to be in San Diego, this was a great hotel to relax in. Close to lots of attractions.

Wyndham San Diego Bayside

Posted Jul 31, 2015
This hotel is very close to the bay and attractions such as the Maritime Museum, USS Midway (recommended) and just short taxi ride from the airport. Bayside area feels like it is still in the process of regeneration as there is much that is newly built, alongside the U.S. Navy buildings that once dominated. Still it is convenient for the Gaslamp and little Italy; and the Santa Fe trolley transport station which we used to go north to Old Town to get the bus to Seaworld and Pacific Beach; and to go south a short way to the restaurants by Petco Park and the Gaslamp area. My main issue with Wyndham was a strange odor in our "deluxe" double room, the hotel swapped our room immediately when we asked but the second room was the same. I think the smell could be from a cleaning product. Otherwise the room was clean and the beds comfortable but it didn't feel like a deluxe - for example it was small, there was no fridge, we had to ask for more soap, and the closet was in the bathroom. Wifi was slow and I ended up using 4g to download my onward boarding pass. We used the pool twice in the afternoon after long days of sightseeing which great to cool down but there were no towels the first time. The Boars Head pub offered 10% discount to Wyndham guests and its staff were really nice and efficient but it is by no means a real pub and the coffe machine was out of order. In any case why can't a hotel like this have a cafe with real plates, cups and saucers and cutlery?

Great location and views!

Pros: Location and views.
Whether you have the bay view or the city view, you can't go wrong with a stay at Windham SD. I recommend valet parking and Ruth's Chris Steakhouse is right on the premises. A short walk from the train station and several must do attractions.

As close to anywhere you want to go in San Diego

Pros: Location
Cons: Staff at desk when checking in could be more helpful in directions for wifi, etc. My Son checked in late & was told he was at the wrong hotel..
We spent 3 nights at the Wyndham Bayside hotel and had a wonderful stay. the hotel is located at the bay, walking distance to Little Italy, USS Midway and the Star of India plus Maritime museum. Ruth Chris steak house is on the corner and although they do not have a restaurant in the hotel; they have what they call a coffee cart that in the evening serves wine and beer & cheese plates, etc. Their room service is excellent, we had breakfast sent to the room in the morning and everything was hot and delicious. There is a cafe - Hazelwoods on the bay next to Ruth Chris for lunch, sandwiches, hamburgers and pizza all very good. Saturday night we had 10 people for dinner at Anthony's Fish Grotto, yes, it's a tourist place and the food is what you would expect, I highly recommend ordering shrimp, but for 10 people on a Sat night we all had a fun time and the service was great! I will stay here again the next time we come down. Perfect for families or just the two of us, July is Convention time and you have to expect the usual noise associated with them.. Beds were great and we enjoyed our evenings on the balcony..

Lousy View

Posted Jul 27, 2015
We booked this hotel through Expedia hoping for an ocean view, but realizing we had a 50% chance of getting a city view. But, what we got was a 2nd floor view of air condoning ducts, it was a terrible view. We were also surprised by the high price for parking which was not mentioned until after we were booked. The room did not come with a refrigerator, but they did bring us one to keep medication in.

Nothing special but fine for a night.

Room was clean but small. The shower drain didn't work well so by the end of your shower you are standing in a pool of shampoo and hair. We had some obnoxious neighbors who were smoking, drinking, and being really loud at all hours. Hotel security paid them a visit upon our request. Neighbors started right back up after security left. Hotel is in a great location!!

Fantastic hotel near ocean. Great pool, nice room with balcony. Great location. Learn to use the public transportation, easily travel to all of SD for $5 per day.
