"Spacious, Clean kept, and outstanding service!"
I stayed there for 3 nights and only used their parking services for one night but was accidentally charged for all 3. I went to the lobby to ask about the charges and they informed me that it had already been taken care of. And the two ladies at the front desk were incredibly friendly. Plus the atmosphere was awesome! Definitely staying here again!

"Great experience overall."
Hotel and location are beautiful. Great design and feel. Loved the facilities in general. Fox Sports Bar was great. Front desk folks were snotty. Breakfast at Vela waaaay overpriced for soggy fruit and raw sweet rolls.

"Lovely older hotel, nicely remodeled, great staff"
Smaller rooms but nicely appointed and updated; the room I had was great for me as a single, but would have been small for two people (I don't know if they have larger rooms). Well laid out, and recently updated and done very well. Great service from all staff. Central and convenient location. I appreciated being able to take a city bus to and from the airport; bus stop within 100 feet. More personal than the large chain hotels. I'd definitely stay here again.

Awesome, cute hotel. Great warming staff and was very quiet, even on the second floor. Valet parking shouldn't be so much, but they are fast!

"In the middle of Little Italy"
My wife and I arrived to the hotel in the afternoon and was greeted by Anthony. He immediately made us feel welcome and provided a vast amount of knowledge of the surrounding area. He provided us information of next day continental breakfast which by the way was fresh and excellent. We reserved the queen size bedroom which was perfect. My wife loved the little details of the bathroom which was very roomy and appeared to look renovated. The room itself was a little small but was perfect for our overnight stay. The abundance of pillows on their comfortable bed was wonderful; a small desk to work on if needed. The room has a small fridge/micro, safe for your valuables and everything else one would expect. Anthony provides you with access to the Wifi (free). As for parking, the hotel does not have it own designated area. You have to park on the street but after 6:00 pm, its free. Another pointer from Anthony by the way. Overall, we enjoyed the room more than we expected. We will definitely stay here again when we're back in town. Oh one more thing, the location of the hotel is nearby a variety of restaurants, little stores and the bay which is within walking distance....very romantic!! Thank you Urban Boutique for everything. Where to stay in San Diego

    San Diego Hotel Guide

Commonly referred to as “America’s Finest City,” San Diego often receives praise for its warm weather and sunny skies. This coastal city in Southern California covered in palm trees presents the lure of city life in the downtown Gaslamp area combined with the attraction of the serene beach scene along the shoreline. Browse our selection of affordable travel arrangements to kick start your San Diego vacation today.

The Gaslamp District, which was once a mecca for gambling sailors in the late 19th century, is now an intriguing nightlife hot spot featuring top restaurants and clubs. The accommodations in this area boast the original Victorian-style architecture and are within easy access of eateries and the after-hours scene.

Outside of the cityscape, some of the best hotels in San Diego lie along the coast overlooking the Pacific Ocean. From the accommodations perched on top of the La Jolla bluffs to the beach resorts lined along the Mission Beach Boardwalk, guests are certain to find peace and relaxation at San Diego hotels.

    Transportation

The city is sprawled out, so driving allows travelers the freedom of experiencing all the sites at their own pace. And because San Diego boasts comfortable weather and nearly perpetual sunshine, travelers most often choose to walk or ride bicycles once they arrive at their destination to further explore the area.

For San Diego visitors who don’t reserve car rentals, the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTA) offers both trolley and bus service around the city. The light rail system services the downtown spots, such as the Gaslamp District, along with southern areas near the US-Mexico border, and locations out east in El Cajon. As for the buses, they transport to destinations, such as Coronado, La Jolla, and Hillcrest.

    Travel Basics

Some of the beach laws in San Diego are slightly more relaxed than their East Coast counterparts. For example, several of the beaches in San Diego, such as Ocean Beach, Coronado, and Mission, offer fire pits in the sand. The city even has its own nudist beach, Black’s Beach, which is the largest one in the United States. Though these beaches are lenient with some of their regulations, do realize sleeping on the beach at night and consuming alcohol are prohibited.

Another aspect of the beach San Diego visitors should understand is the ocean tends to be unpredictable with strong riptides and currents. Before venturing into the chilly waters of the Pacific, especially with children, visit the lifeguard tower to find out about any potential risks, as the water’s behavior can change drastically. Know how to escape a rip current before diving into the ocean, and always heed the lifeguards’ warnings. To prevent accidents, only swim in areas where and when a lifeguard is on duty.

    Weather

While San Diego has a reputation for always boasting sunshine and temperature around 70 F, it isn’t always the case. The city’s semi-arid climate sees temperatures drop slightly between December and March, with much cooler temperatures in the evenings. The rest of the year, coastal temperatures tend to range from low to high 70 F, while the height of the summer can see temperatures rise as high as 90 F on some days. However, inland temperatures often reach even higher temperatures. Pack a sweater regardless of when you’re visiting as the evenings cool down during every season.

Locals often refer to the months of May and June as, “May Gray” and “June Gloom,” due to the thick marine layer, which clouds up the shoreline. Although the seaside may be foggy during this time, generally the sky clears up when you drive inland, providing those bright sunny skies San Diego is known for.

Though San Diego can’t possibly live up to the perpetual sunshine and 70 F rumors every day, its sweeping coastlines, nightlife entertainment, and kid-friendly attractions certainly make up for the occasional gray skies.
