Lovely hotel, great location.

We have just returned from The Argonaut and cannot fault it (apart from a kettle in the room would have been nice , us Brits like our cups of tea ) . Great location right on fisherman's wharf . We were offered an upgrade to the fourth floor but had a double room on the second floor for the first night, the room was lovely but had no view just looked out onto concrete and rooms opposite. The room on the fourth floor was larger with two beds and a view of the transamerica pyramid tower. All the staff were friendly and helpful . Glad we chose this hotel , would not hesitate to stay in a Kimpton again .

Can't Wait To Go Back!

Posted Apr 15, 2015
Pros: Location! We didn't have to break the bank to stay in the middle of the heart of San Francisco. It was beautiful, and functional, and affordable.
Cons: A few of the less popular items in the mini bar were expired (ex. Advil had been expired for a year), also the bed was very hard.
Location: Get dinner at McCormick and Schmidt's RIGHT at Sunset facing the water and get sundaes at Ghiradelli.
We weren't sure if we were going to stay in San Francisco until we arrived there. We did some internet/phone searches while at a restaurant and were disappointed to find that we couldn't find a nice place close to the Wharf for less than $600 a night. We pulled up to Argonaut Hotel and checked it out; it was a perfect location but I was sure it would be expensive. It ended up being reasonable, especially going through Expedia.

Friendly staff, awesome location. Everything was as expected, few complimentary things were missing like toothpaste and toothbrush. Even though, I would come back there!

Fin beliggenhet på Fishermans Wharf

Posted Apr 15, 2015
Pros: Alt
Cons: Ikke så mye
Location: Direkte i utkanten av Fishermans Wharf, gangavstand til det meste. Her trenger du ikke bil.
Hjelpsomt personale, fin restaurant. Mat og parkering var dyrt.

The ONLY place to stay in Fisherman's Wharf!

Posted Apr 10, 2015
Pros: Great character, lovely staff - fantastic location.
Cons: We got stuck in the elevator for a bit and housekeeping overlooked an old red bull can in our room when we checked in.
Location: The hotel is in the middle of Fisherman's Wharf. There are a million things to do near by.
This is the only historic and stylish hotel located in the heart of the craziness that is Fisherman's Wharf. We loved the wine reception and my kids loved the Wii in the lobby. We were concerned when we checked in that our room was located next to a courtyard filled with shops and restaurants at The Cannery, but it quieted right down at around 9 in the evening. The room was spacious and well appointed. The housekeeping was a bit hit and miss, but nothing serious. If you stay there, be sure to get ice cream at Normans -right around the corner and the nicest couple in San Francisco and get breakfast around the corner at the Waterfront Bakery - best price for a quick good breakfast in the area. Don't miss the visitor center in the front of the hotel. It is very well done and provides a lot of historical perspective on the area. We had a fantastic vacation and would highly recommend The Argonaut.

Return visit

After 10 years the hotel looks the same - great location & staff was attentive. Rooms could have been fixed up a bit and the use of space was not smart - they needed more sitting areas - overall after all these years the hotel did not disappoint !

Quality hotel in central location

We'll stay here again. We had quick access to Golden Gate Bridge, Alvatraz, Lombard St, Ghirardelli Sq, Cable cars, Piers, running and bike paths. Caught a bus up the street to China Town and a cable car to Union Square shopping. So glad we stayed at The Argonaut.
