“Pleasantly surprised”

After reading the not so great reviews I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel staff was friendly and accomodating. The room was pleasing to the eye, with fun colors and designs. Also, the sheets smelled freshly laundered. I would stay there again!

“Overal great”

I liked this hotel, very hip, creative, and modern room. I arrived right at 3pm when check-in began, so it was madness in the entrance. The staff seemed overwhelmed, so I will overlook their stern/quick manner. The shower floor could have been more updated, and the towels not so rough -- but that is only if I were to nitpick! I enjoyed my stay and would come back again.

This hotel was great. Central location, friendly and helpful staff, and well designed rooms made for a pleasant stay. An excellent value. I was impressed by the detail that went into the decorating. It made the stay fun.

“Perfect for visit to SF attending Orpheum Theatre”

We stayed at this hotel with our 3 kids when we attended the Lion King performance at the Orpheum Theatre on December 16, 2012. I liked the modern amenities and decor throughout. The room was spacious (we had a "suite" with 2 double beds and a sofa bed. The kids complained about the bars and springs on the sofa bed, but otherwise the room was comfy. They have a heated pool, which was clean and nice and warm, but it was raining and cold the whole time, so we didn't use it. The staff was helpful and cheery and tolerated our three kids when they were acting out in the lobby. Overall, I recommend this hotel, although it isn't in the best part of SF, it is very close to the Orpheum Theatre.

“Don't judge a book by its cover...”

Had very few options as I booked a hotel room late during a very large conference. At first, the outside seemed very motel-ish. However, the room itself was definitively above those initial expectations triggered by the outside appearances! Spacious, clean, and hip, the room receives a thumbs up. Bed was comfortable. Shower could be better, but not bad. Would return if the price is right.

“Good place for guys who are there for the ballgames.”

A friend of mine and I stayed here to be close to the ballpark and MUNI. We attended a game each day during our 4 night stay. The MUNI stop was one block away and took us everywhere we wanted to go in the city. The hotel check in and check out was smooth and the staff was very friendly and informative. There is some city noise at night bat that is to be expected in a large city. Overall it was a good experience and I would recommend this hotel to friends.

“Best bargain in SF”

I've been staying at the Best Western Americania for years. I believe it to be the best bargain in SF comparing price to quality of facilities. The only detraction is the lack of quality of the immediate neighborhood. However, I don't think it is anything more than unsightly inebriate street people. They've never hassled me. In fact, I think that it's location is why the price is so good: People mis-percieve it to be a somewhat risky neighborhood. It is not. Just a bit seedy. It's one a block walk to BART and Metro. Five minutes from Union Square. 8 minutes from SFMOMA. Perfect! Don't let the neightborhood (just one block deep) keep you from a very good hotel and probably the best bargain in town.
