Requires refurbishment.Posted Aug 19, 2014
Pros: The reception area was well presented and comfortable; we enjoyed the complementary morning and evening drinks offered there.
Cons: As indicated above the hotel rooms and corridors require refurbishment.
Location: The hotel is close to the touristy area of Fisherman's Wharf. Here it is easy to hire bikes to cycle out to the Golden Gate Bridge and beyond.
Apart from the reception area, there is a slight shabbiness to the hotel. The decor in the corridors and in our room was old - the paintwork was chipped and the wallpaper seemed tired. The wardrobe in our room, or closet, was very small and also required refurbishment. The window fastener was broken and the window shutters awkward to use. However, the beds were very comfortable - in fact the beds seem to be new while the rest of the room appeared dated.

Hotel comfortable and very well locatedPosted Aug 19, 2014
This hotel is 2 blocks away from the Fisherman's Wharf. Just a little more walk and you are at Pier 39. The room is comfortable and clean. The only negative element is the view... a wall.

Close to Fishermans WharfPosted Aug 18, 2014
Pros: The free wine tasting at 5pm each day.
Cons: No improvements required.
Location: Fishermans Wharf, Alcatraz, Cable cars, easy access to all you need.
A great base for Fishermans Wharf and the cable cars. The Concierge was extremely helpful in finding tickets.

ConvenientPosted Aug 17, 2014
Pros: Staff were friendly and welcoming
Location: Short walk to Fishermans wharf and Ghiardelli Square. We also walked into Union Square but this may not suit everyone.
Enjoyed our stay. Convenient for all the sites in San Francisco. We had a quiet room looking onto an internal quad so there was no street Boise which otherwise I think might be a problem.

Great location for exploring Fisherman's Wharf.Posted Aug 15, 2014
Pros: Just about everything! Location, staff, room, facilities - all great!
Cons: The lifts were slow and we weren't sure they were both working at all times. However,we managed!
Location: The hotel is set back a couple of streets from Fisherman's Wharf which means it is away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to walk in minutes
Staff were very friendly and welcoming on arrival and throughout the four day stay. The room was well-furnished and an adequate size for a family of three (two queen-size beds). Although we were too busy exploring San Francisco to indulge, a wine reception was offered from 5-6pm each evening and hot beverages were available each morning in the foyer / reception area. Chilled water was also available at all times in the foyer. Nice touches! It took lots of research on the Internet to choose a place to stay but we had a lovely stay and I would definitely book up again if I visited San Francisco in the future.

San Fran Best Western TuscanPosted Aug 13, 2014
Pros: Room was excellent, hotel concierge very helpful, very thoughtful of guests needs.
Location: Fisherman's Wharf was on doorstep. All the food, cable cars and trams were very close to hand as well as the cycle hires and tours.
The hotel was fabulous, I couldn't recommend it enough. We had excellent service, a great room and more free hospitalities than expected due to our 25th wedding anniversary. Complimentary drinks during the day were a bonus. Only disappointment was the $50 over night parking, very expensive, but parking charges are on average $30 per night elsewhere. Very few free parking.

Great hotel near Fisherman's WharfPosted Aug 10, 2014
Pros: We liked everything, especially its proximity to tourist attractions. It's not the typical "plain" Best Western hotel; it's much better!
Cons: The air conditioner made weird noises. So perhaps have maintenance check it out.
Location: We were 2 1/2 blocks from Fisherman's Wharf, so this was our first stop. There are bus lines near the hotel but we chose to walk everywhere.
We stayed at Best Western Tuscan for 2 nights during our West Coast tour. Our stay was fabulous. The hotel was beautiful and the staff was very helpful and friendly. The manager was so sweet that I won't even complain about the $50 per night charge for valet parking, especially since it's nearly impossible to find a parking space near tourist attractions. We didn't spend that much time in our room as there were so many activities that we needed to cram into 3 days. We plan to return next year and will stay longer.

Great service but not value for moneyPosted Aug 7, 2014
Pros: Friendly staff, great location
Cons: The price of the rooms.
The hotel is in an excellent location near Fisherman's Wharf with easy access to Muni public transport system and the cable cars. Plenty of fresh seafood restaurants in the vacinity. Staff were great - very friendly from door staff through to cleaners. The hotel offers some very pleasant added extras like a Guest Happy Hour from five to six in the evening. This is a fantastic opportunity to talk to other guests and exchange experiences and recommendations for activities over a wine provided by the hotel. The room was clean and comfortable with a small fridge provided (not common in North America). I did not, however, feel that the hotel was value for money.
