Not family friendly

Posted Aug 29, 2014
Pros: Location close to pier activities
Cons: be more clear about the $50/day parking fee. Check in at 8:00 pm I don't feel it's right to be charged $50. I paid $150 for 32 hours of parking.
I booked and pre-paid for two nights and included my children's ages in the booking, however after being asked by Expedia my approx. check-in time and what my room preferences were several days before check-in (a view was my top priority) I was very disappointed to find out the hotel put me in a first floor room directly off the lobby and bar with windows facing a busy road and a view of a parking garage. Everyone in the lobby or going to the bar had a full view of our door. I asked the manager to move me because I felt very unsafe and uncomfortable in that room traveling alone with two children. The front desk attendant was very rude and said he had no record of my preferences and could do nothing about a different room. The hotel restaurant was AWFUL!! way overpriced with horrible tasting food and service.

Great hotel experience on Fisherman's Wharf!

Posted Aug 26, 2014
Just a wonderful choice, The Tuscan. Great ambiance, staff is so professional and courteous. The Kimpton quality was evident the moment we arrived, until the time we left. We'll be back, very soon and stay here again while in San Francisco.

Fisherman's Wharf & Pier 39 only a 5 minutes walk

Posted Aug 26, 2014
Pros: Lovely rooms, comfy beds, coffee machine, mini bar they let you store your own items in! Free wine 5-6pm! Very quiet for a good night's sleep.
Cons: They supply shampoo, conditioner and body lotion but soap instead of shower gel which would have been nicer. Other than than it was excellent.
Location: Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39 only a short stroll away. Lovely restaurant - Pescatore - belonging to hotel, good food, service and reasonable prices.
Excellent base for a holiday in San Francisco. Spent 7 nights there and enjoyed every minute. Bought a City Pass which gave entry into Academy of Sciences, Exploratorium, Aquarium on The Bay, and an hour long cruise which took us under the Golden Gate bridge! The pass also included 7 days unlimited travel on the buses, Cable cars and Street Cars - we used this to travel everywhere we could. Alcatraz was fully booked up weeks ahead unless you book online prior to going or do as we did and get it included with another tour of San Francisco or the local area. We also took ourselves on a cruise to Sausalito across the bay.

Nice hotel close to Fisherman's Wharf

Posted Aug 25, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Given the price paid to stay at the hotel, I feel they could waive the parking costs
Overall a pleasant stay, however I felt the hotel was somewhat overpriced, especially the car park at $50 per night.

Fantastic staff, cannot say enough about staff!

Posted Aug 25, 2014
Pros: Staff
Cons: Sound proofing rooms, maybe heavy curtains
Location: Baudins sourdough bakery was fantastic, lots of caf├ęs on the many piers, hundreds of seals at pier 39. Applebee's restaurant for a cheap dinner
Very nice room, lots of towels comfy Bed and pillows. Complimentary coffee in the morning was hot and strong! There was free wine and nibbles 5-6 pm in foyer which was a great way to meet other travellers! Staff went out of their way to help, especially Wendy. Only hassle, our room was on the street, which is quite common in Fishermans Wharf and very noisy until 2am, apparently, courtyard rooms are better

We had a view of a wall. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't very good either.

Great location

Posted Aug 22, 2014
Well appointed. Rooms cozy. Had pleasant view of courtyard (it's only 4 floors so don't know if outward view is good or not). Free happy hour wine! And apples. Great location for biking, fishermans wharf, walking along the waterfront etc. close to 2 cable car lines. Not walking distance from subway (eg if you take BART from airport, need to take a cab from the subway unless you want to haul your kit onto a trolley/bus)

Short stop at end of road trip

Posted Aug 21, 2014
Convenient location for sightseeing trips to Alcatraz and GG bridge. Also easy for the start of the bullit chase sequence ( up Taylor from jct of Columbus and chestnut). Easy to park $50/night plus tax and you can come and go as you please. Staff very helpful especially Hugo the concierge who sorted out a last minute Alcatraz ticket for me as nowadays you need to book well in advance which I hadn't realised (you just got on the boat 20 years ago). Overall very good hotel and and location for this type of trip. Suggest driving the sights is done pre 9am or late in the day otherwise the monkeys in the 4x4's get in the way.

Requires refurbishment.

Posted Aug 19, 2014
Pros: The reception area was well presented and comfortable; we enjoyed the complementary morning and evening drinks offered there.
Cons: As indicated above the hotel rooms and corridors require refurbishment.
Location: The hotel is close to the touristy area of Fisherman's Wharf. Here it is easy to hire bikes to cycle out to the Golden Gate Bridge and beyond.
Apart from the reception area, there is a slight shabbiness to the hotel. The decor in the corridors and in our room was old - the paintwork was chipped and the wallpaper seemed tired. The wardrobe in our room, or closet, was very small and also required refurbishment. The window fastener was broken and the window shutters awkward to use. However, the beds were very comfortable - in fact the beds seem to be new while the rest of the room appeared dated.
