New Year's Eve stay

Posted Jan 6, 2015
Pros: Very neat and claen and close to a lot of great places in the city.
We had a great time at the COVA. First time staying here, and we will come back again. The front desk staff was excellent and the room was clean and comfortable. Nice continental breakfast too, plus free shuttles. Great hotel.

Nice hotel but several limitations

Posted Jan 5, 2015
I'm basically satisfied with the hotel quality, especially friendly and kind staffs, but wanna list up some short-hand sides for people looking for a hotel in SF. I stayed 5 nights there, and at a morning, the power went down several times. That didn't happen the other days, but at that morning, it went out even when only lights and the heater (not hair dryer and TV) were turned on. They fixed it quickly, but didn't tell us why it happened. Another thing I didn't like about the hotel was the location - it's located in a neighborhood not as convenient as Fisherman's Wharf, Union Square and Financial District. It's about 25 minutes walk away from Union Square, and buses some not that often. It is not in a perfect neighborhood, and a hotel staff advised us not to walk on streets south of the hotel at night. They offer hourly shuttle service to Union Square, Fisherman's Wharf and Japan Town (e.g. 8am to Union Square, 9am to Union Square, 10am to Fisherman's Wharf, noon to Japan Town...), but the number of seats was pretty limited. That said, I really liked the hotel. It was rather cheap considering the quality with a few limitations. I honestly recommend this hotel, but just wanna let you know the fact which might affect your decision.

looks nice from in and out but.......

we stayed here 12\30\14- 1\1\15. there was no heater in our room, it's the end of December cova hotel!!!!! 50 degrees in our room and had to call the front desk twice and go down to the lobby to tell them it was that cold in our room. brought up a space heater lol, ridiculous!! later they also said most of the heaters don't work in the rooms. they brought us 3 remotes for the tv and none of them worked. there's also coffee in the room but no coffee maker or a way to get hot water.

Hotel Cova

Posted Dec 29, 2014
Nice and clean hotel. Located in a convenience location next to downtown within 10 mins walk or 5 mins drive. Hotel staffs at the information desk are really friendly and willing to help. My suggestion for the single traveller is to avoid walking through Eddy street.

Great staff, sketchy location

Posted Dec 17, 2014
Pros: The staff!
Cons: New beds, paint refresh, carpets and hire security.
Location: Take a cab as it is in a very sketchy area.
Staff were excellent and did their level best to arrange tours and assist us in all our needs but accomodations were not anything more than 2 star. Rooms need to be painted and could be cleaner. The Bed in our first room was terribly uncomfortable. However, we switched rooms and that bed was much better. It's unfortunate that, although centrally located, the hotel is in a very sketchy area with many homeless people who are obviously struggling with addictions and mental illness. We did not feel safe walking about. One suggestion would be to hire security, I guess.

Booked Superior King Bed room through Expedia. Got 2 Double bed room when checked in. Complained and then told that that is what happens when booking through Expedia. This is NOT a good thing. Makes me not want to use Expedia for my travels.

birthday getaway

Posted Nov 19, 2014
Stood there for one night when I checked in there was an older lady very kind and very sweet the night security was very nice. the neighborhood is kind of bad at night , walking around at night time is not a good idea but it's fine. We are two girls in our 20s and the guys of course would say remarks but none of them actually approached us

Decent hotel in not so decent area

Posted Nov 18, 2014
Pros: Great amenities provided! The breakfast was above average to have!
Cons: Parking isn't free. Be wary that finding parking in SF is difficult and expensive and is the case at this hotel.
Location: The location is fine except at night. The hotel provides shuttles to Union Square and Fisherman's Wharf throughout the day which is nice to use!
Had to walk about a mile to get to the hotel at night and didn't realize how intimidating the streets are at that time. We checked in and got informed of our amenities which was great: Free Breakfast, Free Wifi, Free Shuttles. Although free, the wifi is pretty slow, but can't complain since it is free. Room was in a strange corner to get into, but was very spacious. Towels were very big which was nice for us. The water pressure in the shower though was low, so it was difficult to rinse. Hot water was instant though! The carpet was dirty and had stains throughout, but that was noticeable because of the color of it. I'm sure it's just as dirty at other hotels. Sound leaked from the streets through the sliding door, and the typical city sounds can be heard because of that. Overall, the bed was comfy and nice and didn't have major problems at this hotel!
