Great hotel to stay for the Folsom Street Fair.Posted Sep 23, 2014
Pros: location and a great fresh continental breakfast.
Cons: The hanging lamp over the table in our room, #215, was missing and it was difficult to see when using the table.
Location: Great location, only 2 blocks off of Market Street and all the busses, trolleys and the Muni.
The Carriage Inn was close to the event we were attending, and the main reason we booked, but the hotel was clean, the beds very comfortable, with a large bathroom and James the desk clerk was very accommodating and helpful!

Not a good locationPosted Sep 8, 2014
Pros: Guys at the front desk were terrific
Location: Nothing after dark unless you are a sprinter.
I want to caveat this that the two guys that work the front desk are great. The hotel itself as just okay. Rooms were large and clean, decorated in early thrift shop which is what they call retro-chic I guess. Issue here is the location which is geographically close to everything but otherwise terrible. Basically three hotels, the police station, and the courts building, and island in a sea of skid row for about six blocks in every direction.

Beautiful rooms, city lobbyPosted Aug 24, 2014
Pros: High quality comfort.
Cons: Window seals for noise.
Location: Cellar brewery around the corner. Good beer. No food.
Pleasantly surprised. Last minute booking. Easy to find. 15 minute walk to Union Square. Secure and meticulous care within hotel.

Quite a walk to Fisherman's wharfPosted Aug 5, 2014
Cons: Better breakfast
Location: Long walk to Fisherman's wharf but do-able
Rang hotel night before to say we were delayed as had missed connecting flight and that we would be there the following day. Rather worried the next day when arrived as they had no record of this and had cancelled our room. Luckily they still had a room for us. Bad communication

Pros: Rooms with interesting famous San Franciscan references.
Cons: Almost everything. The carpet in the guest room seemed unclean; the windows were filthy; skimpy bathroom linens; lots of homeless outside on busy st.
Location: I just don't get the South of Market thing. Come up with the extra cash and spring for a hotel north of Market on Nob Hill or Union Square.
Lousy hotel in a crappy part of town. Skip this one.

Cozy, centrally located.Posted Jul 19, 2014 on Hotels.com
Loved the decor, the comfy beds, the helpful staff. The hotel is centrally located, although not in the middle of much night life. Parking was free, which is unbelievable in SF! The desk staff was friendly and helpful.

Nice hotel, area not so much.Posted Jul 16, 2014
Pros: Price & good day time location.
Location: Great nearby coffee shops, wouldn't hang out in area at night.
Great hotel, however the area surrounding hotel is a little dicey at night. What city isn't?

I stayed only couple of nights, but my stay was pleasant. Room was very spacious, clean, bed was comfortable. 15 minutes walk from Moscone Center. The neighborhood itself is meh, but I chose this hotel because of proximity to the conference center.

I guess.Posted Jun 25, 2014 on Hotels.com
We arrived at midnight on Tuesday: nothing but bums on the street. The parking was tough, but for the next four days I figured out the parking and was able to stay on the streets with hardly any trouble. The bums are always around, though harmless. The room smelled like a motel, but it was on the clean side. Think The Shining meets Chinatown. But no blood or murder. Helpful staff. Dude sleeping on a La-Z-Boy one block down...welcome to SoMa. Walking distance to several FANTASTIC coffee joints! Overpriced, should have been half we paid...but welcome to SF i guess.

Close to union station at an affordable pricePosted Jun 22, 2014
Hotel was within walking distance of union station as well as pick up locations for hop on/off buses. Nice rooms but bed was as comfortable as your own. Water pressure was low but it worked!
