Old and tired

Posted Sep 4, 2014
The hallways stunk of old wet carpet. There's no fridge in the room and the size of the bathroom was tiny. The bedhead was torn and tattered and there was nothing to watch on tv. The only redeeming feature was that the beds were comfortable. It was kind of depressing to come back to this hotel at night.

Pros: Great location and nice staff.
Cons: The rooms need renovating. Fresh curtains and bed sheets would make a world of difference. The carpet was also looking a bit worn.
Location: Very close to Union Square. Only a couple of miles from the bay. A few blocks away is the BART train that can take you straight to the airport.
Great location near Union Square. The pictures looked better online than the rooms did in real life. The bed skirt and curtains had holes, and the place felt a bit rundown. They spent more money on the upkeep of the lobby than the rooms guests stay in. The staff is nice and friendly.

The rooms are small and there is a feeling of history to the place but it was comfortable and the staff was very helpful.

Good location but that's about all

Posted Aug 24, 2014
Pros: It's location.
This hotel is in a great location but it is very old and needs revamping. We had requested a room with city views - that turned out to be looking at the brick wall of another very old building just a few metres away from our window which made the room very dark and dreary. The bed was quite comfortable but noise from just general conversation in the hallway at night was annoying. We would not stay here again.

The building is little old but it is close to everywhere you can go. The hotel staffs very nice and helpful, they really help us to find every where we can go and show directoin to find a good resturant and other place.

Good location

Pros: People.
Cons: Fixing the window screen and fixture.
Location: Good location for shopping.
Boutique type of hotel. Excellent location and close to all shops. Cannot expect premium amenities or modern decor, though appreciate the history as this hotel has a hundred year of history. Staff very helpful and friendly. Enjoy our stay and pleased with the value,
