Dirty

Homeless and drug adicts all around. We have seen a rat. Towels were smelling bad. I would not recommend comming back here. Although the area is bad there are serious issues with the service and cleaness of the place itself.

Nice for a traveller!

I was travelling through SF on a road trip, and this hotel was perfect as it was fairly centrally located, and had free parking. Don't pay $50 to park your car in downtown SF, when you can stay here fairly cheap, and park for free! Lots of homeless around SF, but they didn't bother me or my vehicle.

Wouldn't stay there again

Half of hotel faces an alley where multiple homeless people sleep on the sidewalk and loiter about. I did not feel comfortable there with my family. I asked for a refund because of this and the hotel refused. Found out that area is called the tenderloin and is known to be a less desirable area.

Very expensive motel

Posted Jul 6, 2014
Pros: The hotel is in a convenient area, located just blocks away from union square, and that is nice. Wi-fi was included.
Cons: At least install a microwave and fridge in the room, they don't cost much.
Location: It is in the worse part of civic center, but close to union square, where all the restaurants and clubs are. It is also very close to transportation.
The hotel is in a convenient area, but that is all. It is very exposed to the street, and that feels quite unsafe, depending on where the room is located. However, it is situated at a walking distance from union square, where lots of restaurants and clubs are. The room lacks a microwave, or refrigerator, things most hotels in the area provide, and the TV barely works with only 5 channels. The check-in process was a nightmare, it took me half an hour, and the only front desk clerk was very rude and incompetent. To make things worse, the sodas and ice machine were broken. The whole experience was just awful, and very expensive for what it was.

Good enough for the ocation

Pros: Free Parking!!
Cons: A less noisy vacuum for the housekeeping crew!
Location: The location is not the most desirable, but it is within walking distance to many places.
We visited SF for pride. The hotel is close to civic center and it has free parking which was my main interest for this trip. The facilities are not funcy or new, but the room was clean. It gets a bit noisy in the morning and it can be quite annoying if you are a light sleeper. I tend to wake up early (even when partying the night before) so it was not a big deal for me. If you need a place to sleep and shower and not worry parking tickets, the Civic Center Inn is good enough.
