Beautiful hotel near Union Square

Posted Dec 3, 2014
We received a warm greeting at the door and another at check in. The decor is amazing throughout the hotel. Food at the restaurant is so good. The location is a convenient one block walk to Union Square. The Clift is a firm two thumbs up from the four of us in my party in two rooms.

Pros: The staff was super friendly and helpful.
Cons: Bathtub could use updating. It was peeling near the drain.
Location: The location was great. Walking distance to great food and shopping. Only about 2 blocks away from the Union Square.
We had a very pleasant 1 night stay. Room was small but very comfortable and quiet. Excellent location, very close to Union Square.

Pretty pretentious for no reason. Doormen talking

Posted Dec 2, 2014
Door men talking with each other rather then opening the door. Very pretentious for no particular reason. We are returning to many of the hotels like Monoco or Serrano.

Great chic hotel with a ton of character

Posted Dec 1, 2014
We like to spend a weekend in SF every so often and Clift is our default choice due to its location and character. Everything about Clift is great. Redwood bar, hôtel location, room cleanliness and a very friendly staff, so you just know that you'll be well taken care of :-)

Ok -

Pros: No refrigerator in the room.
It was close to transit. My husband was very ill (cancer). We were not able to do much during our stay. We needed a refrigerator in the room, but had to settle for several ice buckets a day to refrigerate ensure. The lobby was nice, the staff were wonderful. This is an older hotel, amenities are lacking. Again, the staff were the best!!
