“A good hotel”

I thought the hotel has a good location. It is easy to get on the bus to the fisherman wharf. However, the interior for the room is just OK. You paid what you expect to get.

“Great job Expedia!”

Mostly very helpful, friendly staff. Generous breakfast in a pleasant environment. Helpful staff provided good recommendations to nearby restaurants, etc. Room was comfortable and clean. Very nice value for the price.

“Great San Francisco hotel!!”

We (2 adults and 2 children) enjoyed our stay at this hotel very much. The room was clean and comfortable and the beds were wonderful. Especially enjoyed the great "comp" breakfast they have for their customers. Food was just delicious and there were a lot of things to choose from...such as waffles, eggs, sausage, oat meal, coffee, juice, and many, many more items. We enjoyed this stay at the Comfort Inn by the Bay very much and we would do it again!!

“It should be called "Comfort Inn NEAR the Bay" not BY the Bay”

Our view of a putrid orange wall was not stimulating. Less stimulating was the additional $40 PER NIGHT that the motel wanted. They have huge posters in their elevators taunting those who have depressing views and urging an "upgrade" (see the desk.....) The ice machine on our floor was not working so I had to trek from the second to the fifth floor. To his credit a maintenance man on the fifth floor noticed I had come off the elevator and asked from which floor I came. Then he did immediately take care of it. I would not stay there again.

Area recommendations

The Wharf area is acceptable, as there are many other motels without a view that would have been available for less. They also do not suggest they are by the bay.

Must see

The California Academy of Science. Plan on four to five hours, eat in their excellent main cafeteria. The de Young Museum has a free tower view of the city and is directly across from the CAS.

“it was good”

We had a good stay at the hotel again and would recommend. It is close to the Lombard street and other attractions. The only thing was breakfast. No meat for breakfast only one day we had eggs. So dont except a big buffet.

“Great location and friendly service”

The hotel was fine for the price. The location was fantastic, only about a mile or so to the marina and 3 miles from the golden gate bridge. Great restaurants, bars, and shops a few blocks away on Union St. The staff was very helpful and gave great restaurant recommendations and called a cab for me to the airport early in the morning. I would definitely stay here again.

“Great hotel for the price, nice location”

the hotel was very clean, and the room was spacious and very nice. Although it did not have a very nice view, since those charge extra. Location is great you can be in fishermen's wharf in 15 minutes walking and the surrounding neighborhood is pretty safe. One block away you can take a bus both to downtown and the Wharf, so it was very convenient for my business. My only disappointment was the check in because I got there early and had to wait until exactly 4:00 PM to check in, which was very uncomfortable for me. Aside from that everything was pretty nice.

Pier 39, great place to know and have dinner.

“Convenient Hotel”

Hotel was within walking distance (3/4 mile) of the wharf and the crooked street on Lombard. Room was clean and breafast adequate. Parking was under the hotel and not as expensive as closer to the wharf.
