Easy access to airport

Posted Oct 22, 2014
The hotel has easy access to the airport but it is 5km away from the airport. We drove to the hotel, dropped off our luggage in our room, then drove out to the airport to return our rental car. We used the free hotel shuttle to get back to the hotel. Very easy. Nice pizza restaurant opposite the hotel

..then there was the smell

Posted Oct 17, 2014
Pros: The sheets were clean, and the large bathroom was clean even though the bathroom wallpaper was peeling off.
Cons: Major renovations to include thorough cleaning need to be done. Soundproofing would be welcome.
Location: The neighborhood is as run down as the hotel. I did not feel safe as we finally found a pizza restaurant. Many, many shops were out of business.
A rank odor greeted our family upon our arrival. Check in was 4pm, which meant that we had to wait in the tiny reception area adjoining the tiny breakfast area where the housekeepers were heating and eating their lunches. Food smells combined with the lobby's sour smell. Floors, walls, desk area...nothing looked clean. Areas of linoleum were missing in the elevator's floor. In our room, bedspreads were worn and soiled. The smell was unpleasant. Room clock set minutes not hours; small tv did not work; and lobby computer would not connect to the Internet. Because only a sidewalk separates the hotel from a busy street, sleep was elusive due to all night traffic noises to include big trucks and motorcycles, The trash truck noisily came and went at 5:30 am just beneath our window. During the seemingly endless night, we never adjusted to the room's pervasive, offensive odor. I apologized to my family for making this reservation.

Pleasant weekend.

The night reservation clerk was so knowledgeable and helped us in many ways: directions to the hotel, explaining maps, adjusting our room T.V., fixing the computer to print out our airline tickets, etc. Although we did not need to deal with the day clerk much, when we did he was helpful and pleasant. The maids were cheerful when filling our requests. The parking was easy and ample. Yes, we would definitely stay at Days Inn the next time we visit San Francisco.

Very good and economic accommodation.

Pros: Excellent location and value with free SFO shuttle. Bus to shops about a mile away near San Bruno BART for about a 30 min ride to SF City.
Cons: Nothing of any concern to us.
Location: Good Italian restaurant across the road. Also Pancake house 5 mins walk away. Sears, J. C. Penny, Target, food hall etc a mile away with free parking.
Days Inn San Bruno was perfect for our 3 nights then 2 nights separated by 2 weeks driving rental car around CA. Thirty minutes walk to BART at Milbrae. Or free shuttle to SFO airport with its BART station and rental cars etc. On local bus route. All the staff we met were extremely helpful. Rooms were comfortable and clean with only a slight niggle about typical American bathroom fittings, though of no real concern. We will certainly stay there again with its proximity to SFO airport when we next visit from New Zealand. Full marks to the shuttle driver who promptly circled back to SFO when my wife realised she had left a bag containing $1000 cash and credit cards at the pick up point after our 12 hr flight. It was still there! G.O.

Useful hotel

Posted Sep 25, 2014
Pros: Good sized room, clean. Decent continental breakfast
Cons: Room keys demagnetised easily
Location: Good for airport, easy to get in out from south and east over spectacular San Mateo bridge or to coast. A very useful base.
Could drive to Millbrae station (5 mins) and take BART or Caltrain into central SF in (30mins). No manic traffic or silly parking charges.
