“san Fran get away”

had a wonderful time in San Fran. This hotel worked out perfect for our family of four. Two rooms, two TVS. Great breakfast and close to everywhere we needed to go! Bed could have been a little softer but not bad.

“Has some good points....”

The center of the hotel is really unique and very well done. It is covered in foliage and gives you the feeling of being outdoors in a resort. I enjoyed the free cocktails in the afternoon and the atmosphere was definitely something to remember. I also thought the free shuttle to the SF airport was extremely convenient. The hotel will allow you to keep your car there for a reasonable daily fee, taking the free shuttle to and from the airport. This was a very big benefit and one reason why I would return. I didn't like the fact that I was stuck with a smoking room that had a very thick smell of smoke. The hotel was full which prevented them from moving me and my kids. The furniture was very old but the beds were comfortable. The bedroom had a sliding door that allowed for ventilation and had a great view of the bay.

“Not impressed”

This hotel is not bad, just not what it is advertised. We were spending our last night in California near the airport because of an early flight. We selected this hotel because it advertised a heavy snack evening event. Since there are no restaurants around the hotel, we had counted on this for an evening meal. The snacks turned out to be a big bowl of pretzels and a big bowl of potato chips. When we tried to go to the hotel restaurant or lounge, both were not available because the hotel had scheduled events. We then tried to go to their small store to purchase some snacks and it was closed. To be fair the restaurant offered to set us up a table in the courtyard, but it was too busy for us as the hotel had events scheduled there also.

“Poor service”

I am a frequent traveler who had a gauranteed/confirmed non-smoking king bed reservation and when I arrive I was given the choice of a smoking room that had been de-smoked(?) or a handcap room with shower that did not reach my shoulder. The manager blamed expedia for booking a smoking room but when I showed her the printed reservation from expedia was for a non-smoking room she still refused to make any other rooms available. It was too late to go anywhere else but needless to say, with that kind of service and management, I will not be going back. Expedia was very responsive and made up for this poor hotel experience.

“I stay here 4to 8 times a year”

Everything about the hotel is great. Location is perfect, View and scenery is awesome, room kept clean, courteous and professional staff always, and delicious breakfast every morning. I travel for various conferences and seminars four to eight times a year. Although the meetings are other hotels, I seek out Embassy Suites and when in the Bay Area, this is the hotel I stay at each time. I love everything about this hotel.

Area recommendations

The Embassy in the Bay Area specifically the Waterfront site because of the beauty and location.

When to go

My two main times that I travel to this Embassy are January and August. I believe August is a great time because it is still latter summer time and family can travel as well as solo travelers. The weather is perfect and there are many activities and events going on in the Bay Area.

“wow”

Our trip to this Embassy Suits did not start out well. Upon arrive we were told our room was not available but another room was. Unfortunately it was a smoking room and had one less bed than what we had reserved. This was not acceptable to me!! The manager asked if it would be OK to be put up in the hotel down the street for the evening. We accepted and were put up in connecting rooms in another hotel. The following day we moved into our room at The Embassy Suits to find gifts and thank you note for our understanding from the the manager and staff for the inconvenience of the previous day. This is a beautiful hotel with great views of the bay. The made to order breakfast was great and the shuttle proved to be most convenient on a trip into the city. While the trip did not start as we had hoped, I would certainly return to this hotel.

Area recommendations

The shuttle bus and a ride on the BART train placed us in downtown San Francisco. We rode cable cars and had lunch at Fisherman's Wharf. We did not have enough time to visit Alcatraz, but but it came very recommended by everyone who did make the trip.

Getting around

We used Bart and cable cars. We had asked several people about walking and they all thought we were crazy. Turns out we could have walked to several of the locations we attended. While maps of the city are provided it is hard to tell distances until you've actually seen them.

What to pack

Dress warm!!! Temperatures during the day in August topped at at 64.

“EXCITING BY THE OCEAN AND THE AIRPORT”

We were completely satisified and everything was beautiful and wonderful. This hotel is outstanding as so is the staff. We are happy and glad that we chose this hotel.

Area recommendations

San Francisco in particular. Great place to visit and have fun in.

Again we have to say San Francisco. We come here often and always reccomend this to our friends.
